Heirloom Changes Discussion

This is the only bonus that looks even remotely useful. But would you pay hundreds of thousands of gold for a Buff that only works 50 times for 2 min at a pop? I wouldn’t even consider it.

Yep, pretty much. A timegating set bonus, and a ripoff of D3 bonus.

I can help with that.

8 piece: Rested bonus maximum increased by 50%.
10 piece: Rested bonus gain rate increased by 200%.
12 piece: Active ability: 30 minutes of double XP gain per day, non-stacking. edit: And persists through death.

i like the 2 and 3 set bonuses. 2 is still a decent xp boost and 3 allows for faster pulling while leveling so they basically replaced an xp boost with a way to farm xp quicker. the 4 piece is meh to me. i definitely would’ve preferred a movement speed increase over this. the 6 piece just isn’t very good. it’s the same as the 2 piece but i would expect a bigger reward for 6 pieces over 2. i feel like the 6 piece should increase the rate at which a character gains rested xp too. this way you can log out in a inn and have more rested xp for the 2 piece and the 6 piece bonus.

otherwise, i am happy with the changes. they simply replaced an xp boost with ways of making the game go faster.

Which is pointless, and antithesis to their reasoning of why the xp bonuses are being removed.

Which is only for a limited time. 1 or maybe 2 dungeons and the xp bonus is gone and then you have to log out for a few days to get it to work again. The original lasted as long as you killed and turned in quests.

What’s actually worthless is literally all the gear you’ve ever spent time collecting from every expac ever.

Even if they hadn’t added a single thing to replace the XP buff, heirlooms would still be worth it for gear that levels with you that you don’t have to bother replacing.

When you level, you aggro everything around you as a bonus!

Don’t forget about the heirloom trinkets for also completing the Darkmoon Deathmatch and the Gurubashi Arena events 13 times, that increase experience from BGs by 50%, each.

Ideally, they would return heirloom gear to its original power level. Right now, heirlooms are the equivalent of a green drop of the level you are. Originally, they were far more powerful in relation to drops. It was like running around in blue or purple quest rewards instead of greens. Right now, they’re not and we only use them for the xp bonus (and the convenience of not needing to replace those slots, even if the stats are lackluster compared to quest rewards).

This stat nerf happened in 7.3.5 by the way. It should be reverted based on the changes.

While losing the bonus XP is saddening, the simple fact that I don’t have to go through multiple expansions is a pretty good trade, and it isn’t like BOA gear is terrible stat wise.

The proposed changes are bad.

Gimme the ability to sell my heirlooms back at a loss at least

But it is. It’s green quality quest reward/drop level of stats since 7.3.5. The only benefit is that it never falls behind in ilvl.

Is that like a slap in the face? I have a drink here ready to go, but I am not sure if this qualifies.

I need a judge’s ruling.

The 4 piece bonus is the best one honestly. Based on how rested EXP Will work and shortened level time, it’s far easier to level in one/two days a new character with average play times and takes ages to build up rested EXP. The proc is ok, but there are far better things to do with the set bonuses.

Edit: Wait it’s only on level up. I thought it was a random chance. LOL This is what I get for reading over it too quick. All of these are bad.

Which isn’t exactly a kick in the crotch; it’s a gear slot you don’t have to worry about for X amount of levels.

Further, certain gear slots don’t typically get filled for an extended period of time while leveling; it’s not until the 20’s that you start seeing helmets or shoulders, to say nothing of trinkets, rings or necklaces.

What if they change the (4) set bonus to give you a non-stacking, hour-long buff that made your next autoattack or damaging ability trigger a burst of holy damage on the target and give you the primary stat buff for two minutes? At least then it will always be useful and equally for ranged vs melee.

Uh, it takes 8 hours for 1 bubble of rested (when in a city/inn), and you can have a maximum of 30 bubbles of rested. That means it’d take 10 days (240 hours) to reach rested cap, not 30.

The heirloom set bonuses effectively increase the amount of rested you get by 2.5x (consuming 40% of rested vs consuming 100% of rested).

Still… the 2 and 6 set bonuses are a little useless if you’re doing 1-50 in one sitting… maybe the 6 set could also give 1% of a level in rested when killing an enemy while not rested, or 10% of a level in rested whenever leveling up?

Also it’s important to remember that they’re quoted as saying that the leveling expierience is 60-70% faster, which means that even with a full set of bonus XP gear (shoulder, cloak, helm, chest, pants) you’re still looking at a leveling expierience that is 15-25% faster then you would get without using yet more items (draught of ten lands, Darkmoon faire, Anniversary stuff ect.)
