Now that MSW spenders to heal are mandatory and require us to spend 10 stacks of MSW for each instant heal and now that we lost most of our defensive kit, how about letting us also just spend MSW to heal like we used to able to.
There are circumstances where we can’t even cast an offensive MSW spell (e.g., pally w/bubble). Now that our defensive kit is trash and our instant heals require a 10 stack spend first, please consider giving us back the ability to choose to just spend our MSW on heals again.
We still have to give up damage to do it. Feels crummy to have no ability to heal using MSW anymore. Particularly when we don’t have any fallback options left in our kit.

Yea I dont know what the thought process is here. We literally have the worst defensives in the game. Have to give up damage globals to heal to stay alive now they want to make that healing even harder to come by? In PvP shams are the most susceptible to cc now with the worst defensive and probably the worst self heals now. They can be shut down by literally all sources of CC silence, disarms, roots qnd even snares will absolutely kill our ability to heal now having to hard cast we will get interupted and OOM in 4 heals. I’m not sure why they insist on the class being so gimped in pvp to the point that its unplayable.

The healing is better than it was before though, as in we dont have to give up actual damage to get the healing, just a global. You will almost always have a big Healing surge available, very few times you will want to surge and not have any MSW to spend and then surge.
The problem is they just completely nuked it. They nerfed Raging Maelstrom by 50% so Healing Surge is no longer instant under 10 stacks of MSW/Raging Maelstrom, and then they nerfed Healing Surge by 20% lol.
And on top of that they haven’t updated Shaman defensives at all. Over the course of TWW and Midnight we have only lost defensives/survivability. They could’ve made Astral Shift a 1.5min CD baseline so we can talent into making it 1 min or a very strong 1.5min wall. They could’ve added DR to Earth Shield for the Shaman only to give us some passive mitigation. But no, we got nothing.

Enhance base healing surge was stronger than ele on live.
But they just flipped that by buffing ele surge by 130% vs 84% for enhance.
So, if enhance was historically balanced to have the stronger baseline healing surge for survivability purposes, that will no longer be the case either.

Also are mana pool and cost for healing surge is insane. So if we dont get the free procs. We will OOM insanely fast. Enhancexis the only class I’ve OOM on trying to stay alive. Its actually in sane how gutted they are considering we’vehave the worst defensive for multiple expansions now.

Maybe in the middle of a fight, but what about the beginning - before you’ve built any stacks or cast any spells?
Say you are in a BG or open world and you get stun locked out of stealth by a rogue or a caster/hunter starts bombing you from long range?
We used to be able to pop wolves for MSW stacks and at least use whatever MSW we were generating from lightning shield from getting hit to cast a heal or two.
Now, unless you can not only generate 10 MSW stacks but also find a target to hit a LB with, you can’t get a heal off at all.
And we no longer have other tricks up our sleeve like stone bulwark to buy time.

In cases like that we have to pre wall or just trinket wall/trinket burrow. Thats how it always is even prior Raging Maelstrom. We are one of the only classes that has no defensives useable in cc so we always have to pre-defensive, hope our healer can keep us up or trinket+defensive.
If its BG or open world scenario you can run the Spirit wolf talent in the class tree and have 20% DR up while you’re running around, but 20% is honestly nothing compared to burst at this point so you’d probably still have to trinket.
but thats why we also need defensive compensation in general. Our survivability is horrid. We should be able to talent into making Astral Shift a 1 min cd, it should probably be useable in CC (or burrow should be), and we should have some passive DR from Earth shield. Also, because they nerfed our healing so hard, if you are vsing a rogue like that he’ll have MS on you and your heals will barely move your hp bar even at 10 stacks. It is terrible.
I was vsing a dk that now has target only MS (meaning the target theyre hitting does reduced healing, it isnt like regular MS where they take reduced healing) and my heals were doing nothing at all lmao.
Historically we’ve always had an issue with getting jumped/stunlocked since we need to ramp, but we’ve typically had more tools in the kit to deal with it than we will have in midnight.
Like in shadowlands, for example, people would pop feral spirit at the start of a match to get some MSW stacks for heal since damage was so high and you could die fast if you couldn’t get a heal off. Now we can’t do stuff like that anymore.
And denying us the ability to use MSW to heal just exacerbates it even more. So, I think it’s going to be worse than usual. And it’s always been a pain point for the spec as is.
Yeah I agree with that, I just don’t want to lose raging maelstrom to make up for that problem. There are other solutions that would be way better than losing Raging Maelstrom, ie being able to wall in CC or burrow in CC. I mean wtf why cant burrow be used in cc but other immunities can? AND its a pvp talent, so it should ideally be better than talents coming from the class tree or baseline for other classes since it is specifically oriented around pvp. but no, its the worst immunity in the game because it doesnt clear any debuffs off of you and has the same CD as turtle.
But being able to wall in CC and having Astral Shift be a 1 min CD would be all thats needed to solve the issue you’re talking about here and would also heavily help our survivability issues in general.

Yeah. I don’t want to lose it either. I just wish they left us with the ability to spend MSW on heals if we wanted to so that it was at least a fallback option when times are desperate.
When they originally created the PvP talent on the PTR, you could still use MSW to heal if you wanted to. So you had both options. Then the took away the MSW heals before they released it on live servers.
If we’re going to have such a weak defensive kit otherwise, it would be nice if they’d reconsider that. Or at least make nature’s swiftness an automatic 10 stack heal or something.
Enhance has been able to start a fight with an strong instant heal in the bank since vanilla via NS. Midnight is introducing the longest ramp we have ever had to our first heal considering the NS heal we can get is so weak and so buried under non-enhance talents that noone gets it.
Burrow is nice if you have a healer, doesn’t help you recover from getting jumped if you don’t though since you can’t heal or anything during it. Would be nice if they added a HOT to it like ice block.
