So much this. Especially for resto shaman. As a resto sham I can be using a major healing CD every 60 seconds. I tell new ones asking questions not to wait for trouble to hit one. Use a healing CD when things become mildly uncomfortable.
Same, I’ve done nothing but only pugging lately.
I wouldn’t say healing itself is unforgiving, but what you have to fix and compensate for in your groups definitely can be.
My biggest gripe with healing right now is that I can’t just heal through some things, not even using a cooldown. Sometimes Dr. Demon Hunter will somehow have his big toe 0.2 cm too close to the swirly and take lethal damage.
Like. If mechanics are going to oneshot people like in Final Fantasy, we need clear indicators of where not to stand like in Final Fantasy. Swirlies are vague and unintuitive.
I tried that and they said “wtf is wow? like the fitness center?”
im so tired of these “shadowlands was better than dragonflight” threads JUST STOP
healing is brutal; tried it a few times, gave up.
So when I play shamans, I get the healing stream totem and always drop it b4 fights just to help the healer out.
WIth my dps druids, I cast wild growth evry time it’s off cooldown to give a party wide AOE heal,
likewise any hybrid class that can heal, I pop those abilities ASAP to give our poor healers a bit of support
A lot more factors matter then that like sounds like Tank and DPS just expected the healer to carry them through it which news flash no thanks to Blizzard we can’t.
If the healer doesn’t dispel the tank it’s pretty much a guaranteed wipe…

The mechanics on that boss require the healer to dispell the tank, so that the tank can get in the way of an ability that will kill a dps. It’s a cascading event that will end the fight if the healer is not on the ball. The totem was killed on time- the healer just didn’t do their job, moreover they were not keeping up with a bleed that will continue to tick damage until it is healed off. All DPS and tank were fine on damage and mitigation.
Much as healers like to point the finger, sometimes they’re the ones at fault ![]()
Build a heavy heal team…
Paladin Tank
Druid DPS
Priest DPS
Lock DPS
Shaman dps
Etc…
hopefully having people who have a tool belt of heals on them will relieve some pressure
also locks and mages are a must in mythic dungeons
and if team didn’t bring consumables and use proper trinkets why are we even here?
Also look at their item level, make sure their stamina holds up, be picky, its mythic. A mythic team should be a dream team with no trash items wasting up slot space. Regular dungeons provide plenty of resources to get fairly decent gear.
Healing is fun with friends
I’ll be the devil’s advocate. Anything is usually better with friends. Even if it’s a bad game, at least you have friends to share the embarrassment with.

In my case heals was just in over their head at a key level they weren’t prepared for.

Yeah its definitely fair to be picky when it comes to heals and tank, that’s why its also important to pick a guild that fits best for your play style. Once you get in with a solid mythic+ guild things should go smoother.
A very kind offer
