What makes you think illegal servers experiences are going to translate into classic?
When BGs come out and Priests are the primary target for the opposition. Then the numbers will plummet.
It was no secret that dwarf priest were going to be like locust.
Anyways, given that most hybrids turn to healing at max itās for aure going to be an overpopulated dungeon role compared to tanks and even dps.
Paladin master class obvsly.
Itās how it was on Northdale too, tons of healers. Not surprised it happened here as well.
On my server there are priests everywhere. And more than half of them are dwarves. I think DPS will have an easier time getting into 40 man raids than healers. I predict a surplus of shadow priests at 60 all fighting for debuff slots on the raid bosses.
Did it ever subside?
I rolled a Druid and that was certainly my thought. Iāve been really surprised at how much I see āLFM DPSā in trade chat, from groups that already have a healer.
And no, I donāt want to pay for a respec at this point. Iāll just stick it out and see what happens when I get to higher levels.
I have no idea why so many people rolled priests.
I rolled a priest in classic because thatās what I played back in 2004 as well. Kind of a bummer to see it so highly populated.
healing classic dungeons is pretty boring. basically zero mechanicsā¦Healing 5 mans in classic really doesnāt take much skill. Iāve been a healer since BC and I play a healer in classic. itās certainly not skillful like healing high mythic+ dungeonsā¦So thatās why I also think you see a lot of healers because itās easy in classic. I say this as a full time classic player, I quit BFA in season 1. but what I said is still true and healing certainly isnāt stressful in classic like it can be in high mythic+ keys.
Thereās a shortage of tanks both in classic and in retail. Recent changes to dungeons and tanking that make it less fun and harder to tank as an offspec mean fewer tanks, especially part time tanks. I think they made these changes to align retail tanking with the classic style.
I tank not at all now.
Thereās a mountain of healers on Ashkandi, but no tanks. Iād have parked my Shaman and leveled up my Tank, but heās going to be needed as a raid healer, so Iāll end up leveling him on the side when heās not needed.
Canāt find a Stratholme UD run since we have so many healers trying to get pre-bis from there. I think the reason behind this is much more simple: at max level you are not going to want to change talents. People hit 60 and they specialize in whatever role they will be using to raid. Turns out that raids only need 2 tanks and the majority of warriors go DPS. Given that Paladinās and druids are typically forced to specialize in healing in order to raid, you end up with no tanks left. The same helps explain why you suddenly have so many healers.
Iām fortunate to naturally be drawn to tanking, and leader roles. Itās why people tend to shy away from tanking, and forming groups.
Healers: Keep others from dying. Try not to pre hot, nor pop a shield/heal right as we pull
DPS: Burn mobs down, interrupt, and cc when need, manage threat.
Tanks: Mark, know the dungeon, interrupt, manage threat, pull, watch for pats, and making a simple mistake can wipe the group.
Itās a bit of responsibly, and many donāt want it. If you donāt know the dungeon, people will say thatās not reassuring. And, doubt your skill, because you donāt know the zone.
Watch for white and green hands!!
Warlocks are an extreme shortage with some places. Swifty was saying on his guild they had ONE warlock on the raid team and were still looking forā¦rogues, if you can believe that.
At launch, there were so many warlocks. I wonder what the die-off rates by class are and if locks have a higher die-off rate.
Hasnāt just been with healers. The wildly exaggerations regarding the warrior leveling process (which isnāt bad at all if you know what youāre doing) has scared many people off, and has resulted in a serious tank shortage with content levels 30 and higher. Not really out of the usual, since dps tend to be in overabundance, but more people really should consider rolling as healers and tanks in order to make forming high level dungeon groups easier.
Edit: Oops, misread the OP. Bit surprised by the overabundance of healers this time around.
No. Heās talking about there being too many healersā¦not that there isnāt enough. I donāt think you read the post.
