A statement acknowledging the DDOS and an apology from Blizzard is all well and good.
I don’t know what people expect as far as DC protection goes. I don’t want to pretend like I know how all the infrastructure works for servers and internet and DDOS, but this is literally a situation where everything goes haywire because of malicious people screwing with the system.
Maybe someday we will have the intricate technology necessary to safeguard against this type of stuff; that’d be awesome, but I cannot currently fathom what people expect from Blizzard in regards to being able to detect server outages (or personal DCs) and save people from those events.
Even if it comes to fruition the sad reality is the malicious users who get joy out of doing things like DDOS or hacking people don’t pack up their bags and go home; they find new ways to mess with the system. Thus far it’s been a neverending game of cat and mouse.
