ya, 3 buttons, fel blade, chaos strike, blade dance, glaive throw, eyebeam, fel rush, vengful retreat all make up the rotation, but sure 3 buttons
I dont have the bow so I get good buffs. So Im happy.
Gear should never be so OP that it defines the spec. Blizzard recognise their mistake and are fixing it.
Then they shouldnât have nerfed the bow and the class. Hunters are going to be much weaker after this.
Except Survival. Blizzard hates that spec the most.
You can tell who read dh rotation from legion or played it early on and never touched it again after one or 2 days by such posts lol.
Or it was just a glib response to people saying BM is a 3 button spec.
Havoc is about the same as BM in terms of complexity. But BM needs more concentration.
Youâll be fine.
I disagree. Momentum build which is the strongest dps build for DH requires you pay attention to where you are going to move. It can literally kill you just for doing your basic rotation and maintain the damage buff.
BM can move while casting and you just set up a weak aura for the small pet buffs to maintain.
Youâre missing Essence Break, Immo Aura, and Sigil of Flame. Plus Glaive Tempest if weâre talking non-Momentum builds.
Itâs 11 rotational skills, not counting the longer damage cooldowns like the Hunt and Metamorphosis.
Small nitpick here, but itâs a large pet buff and managing Frenzy well is important if you want to actually succeed as BM. Itâs like Momentum on DH. One of the big differences between a bad BM Hunter and good one will be their Frenzy uptime. And also stuff like pet management, but thatâs another conversation entirely.
I used to Raid Bm. Part of the reason I liked it was the moving while casting and I can focus more on learning mechanics. Those buffs arenât hard to manage in comparison. Just need a few weak auras. Being limited by melee range and the excessive amount of frontals this expansion, I would say DH requires more concentration as BM hunters can do this at way more relaxed ranges/safety.
I feel like demonhunter and Survival hunter feel close to each other. SV hunter feels a bit worse since harpoon has a range minimum though for itâs secondary effects. Good Bm hunters can manage those buffs, good DHs can manage momentum and not die to mechanics lol. I would say staying alive as melee is a bit more problematic sometimes. Especially when forcing a movement spell in the rotation.
Hunters have more skill utility in there skillshot traps though I would say. But not in rotation.
batch of nerfs for DH
Finally, some good news.
Vengeance is in even worse shape to the point where many groups simply will not invite them if a Warrior or DK is in que and you canât even blame them.
Im the kind of guy that think higher risk should give higher reward
As in, complicated rotations should do more DPS than simple rotation classes.
DH being S tier in both ST and AOE in both Raid and M+ AND being absolutely brain dead easy is just a slap to the face for every other classes ![]()
Holy cow guys. Glad Iâm not so obsessed with being top dawg dps based on damage meters only. I thought I was envious of people who got to play end game before reading this. RL prevents me from it, but still, I feel like more than the damage meters should be considered here. What about DH survivability and mobility? Do those not help offset this damage nerf yâall are obsessed with? Does this nerf make groups not want to take a havoc? Make the spec less fun? Thereâs a damage taken debuff enemies get from DHs right? What am I not understanding here? Im seriously curious why this is ruining the game for some of you. Probably an exaggeration but w/e
Warlocks called and wish to have their burrowed power back.
Congrats, for the first time ever since their release in Legion, DH wonât be at or near the top of the charts. Enjoy your best in game mobility.
BM is ONLY good with the bow, and even then they are no where near the best for anything. All the top parses, 95th percentile, are MM. After the bow nerf / class âbuffsâ Hunters will be doing less damage in 10.0.7 as well. They already scaled back the buffs, by half, before they even made them live on the PTR for us to test.
it sucks to see your class do poorly⊠there are 25 dps specs⊠not every one can be top
Sure, but Blizzard could do more to reduce the disparity between the top and bottom specs.

Spoken like a true casual. (Not that Iâm not a casual too nowadays but once upon a time I wasnât. Survivability is a prerequisite of earning a raid spot in a serious guild, not a feature⊠and mobility features itself in higher damage uptime and hence higher dps numbers. You might be desirable if you being âraid cooldownsâ to the table (like darkness). But the fact that you find it considerably easier to do mechanics is irrelevant since everyone is expected to do mechanics without dying or assistance for the most part already.
Now, the plethora of stay alive buttons and utility we have does make us very desirable in m+ content, but for a large percentage of the player base m+ is a âdo 8 +20âs and call it a weekâ thing that we suffer through because thee rewards are tuned a bit too good for the difficulty level compared with, say, completing raids for similar rewards.
And that is the heart of the issue: bliz needs to try to balance for raid performance, where the principal metrics are a raidwide buff checklist and the dps meter, while also now balance for 5 man m+ performance, where the metric is a pass/fail timer where the number (and type) of tools in your bag of tricks is often much more important than the number on the meter. Itâs increasingly hard to balance raid dps without creating a monster of a fotm class/spec in 5 man content.
If they werenât at the bottom, someone else would be, and there would be complaints about that. If DHs were consistently at the bottom there would be reason to complain, but they havenât been. Theyâve had it pretty good for the most part.
Hey I appreciate you taking the time to respond. And a true casual is where I shall stay. This business looks too roller coaster ish for my liking and Im getting motion sick just thinking about it
Hurray! Nerf havoc dh!
