By then, it will be too late.
Look at modern WoW. People have been asking sharding to be disabled since Legion and they only increased its use in BFA.

Also, sharding enables cost-efficient scaling of their infrastructure. That is my main worry on why they will want to use it as much as they can over time.
Yea i played when Nost and Elysium opened, the only reason new friends probably happened was the massive speed up of mobs spawning to deal with the million players running around in the starting zones.
Iâm not saying you are wrong, i just think you might be underestimating how many people will be in those zones the first week or 2.
I think that before we complain about the use of sharding, it may be necessary based on the server population caps, which we donât know.
Iâm not interested in spending six hours to get six levels. Youâre not jumping into a game thatâs a new adventure at this point, youâre jumping into an old game that people have min/maxâd the sweet Christ out of and itâs going to be a flood of flaming and petitions.
Youâre not going to make tons of friends at the start. People have grown older and miserable.
This. Most players will want to leave the starting zone as soon as possible.
Once I leave the starting zone I will level profession or chat on the local defense channel, maybe find a potential dungeon group or guild mates, because I know speed levelers will make playing impossible.
I really donât think people understand the sheer number of people starting at once. On opening day and the following weekend if it opens on a weekday. You want a âvanilla experienceâ, but you will never get it. Itâs 2019. This is not 2004. This is hyped. Streamers with 2k-10k+ viewers will be playing on opening day. People are going to take time off of work. P server players will be coming back. Sharding makes sense for the starting area for everyone to be able to play opening day. People will want to get the heck out of the starting area asap.
So basically⌠Unable to log on for 2 weeks because servers are down. K.
Seems a bit hyperbolic, donâcha think?
I mean they said they wanted an authentic vanilla experience. that happened. so
Itâs already NOT authentic Vanilla since itâs starting on 1.12.
I know this lol. I was replying to the person stating they only want the authentic day 1 release experience. So I simply stated one of the experiences that people had.

Ah, ok!
Ah hah! Since that obviously makes a difference.
It boggles my mind that there are people out there that will make claims like this - with absolute certainty - based on no evidence whatsoever. They pull numbers out of their butts and then nod sagely to themselves at their âinsightâ.
Are those people going to suddenly disappear when they all enter the next zones?
Or will all of those people that were charged in the starting zones suddenly be competing for mobs, quest mobs, quest objectives, resources, etc. without the convenience of sharding?
And what happens when they all leave those âstarting areasâ?
dont care, blizzard is launching classic with sharding
i also have a violin for you and your tears about sharding at launch
I would cry if I new Mahomie was in the same zone and because of sharding I couldnât see that beautiful face⌠plays violin
