Having only 4 Favorites for your Warband is not enough

Lol, and I would’ve been satisfied with just one, I guess how the character screens work now.

Picking four for me is hard, because I generally have only one main each expansion. Might have an alt or two, but the main gets the attention.

Ive got 6 characters total.
Id be really happy with a 5 favorite setting seeings how one of my characters does nothing and is only there just incase one day I might want to pick up tanking again.
But I have 5 main characters that I max out to conquest cap each season (and thats really enough for me).
Would be really cool to show the 5 man on the favorite list “around the campfire”.
Like some people said, the game is built on a 5 man group, why have 4 favorites around a campfire and not 5??? WHOS DECISION WAS THIS???
they better not have rolled a 6 sided dice and let that choose :stuck_out_tongue: hahahaha

You know on the character select screen, whenever you select a character, it shows them standing in an environment, usually related to their race (sometimes class)? It will show your Dwarf standing in front of Ironforge, your Orc standing in front of Orgrimmar, or your DK in that hovering DK citadel.

Well, in TWW, there is a unique screen for the first four characters on your character list. They will all be standing/sitting around a campfire, together in a group. It’s a pretty minor thing at the moment, but it’s there.

naw 10 for your personal raid

That’s my only issue with that.

Is it gives off Diablo character creation screen vibes.

Other than that, only thing I woud hope to seee changed is more options what their backdrop could be.

They should allow you to favorite as many characters as you want, and every time the screen loads it should pick a random set of those (like “Random Favorite Mount”). If you only favorite exactly the number it can show at once then it always shows those.

I’d also like the number that can show at once increased, but I realize that might be more technically difficult.

P.S. I also like the idea of unlocking more “campsite” options, which could go together with raising the cap on displayed characters. Next after that: the ability to customize your campsite with furniture/decorations available through achievements and the Trading Post. It could be a whole new Collections tab just by recycling objects that already exist for other content.

I feel like they could squeeze in at least one or two more characters in the login screen.

Considering the amount of time spent on the login screen, don’t think it’ll be a big deal

Maybe you can rotate them in and out? That would be cool. Maybe one week one of your guys will annoy you and you will want to swap him out with that lovely Tauren lady with the soft eyes.

I’m sure they could get an extra two gnomes in that. Tauren? No way.

It puts them at the top of the list of characters, separates them, and “officially” designates them as a favorite.

“Favorites” only affects the login screeen. How many people pay that much attention to that? It’s just a custom login screen. Everything is still shared across all your characters, does it really matter if they’re sitting at a campfire or not?

I mean, I’m not against that, but it is what it is. I don’t plan on spending time on the login screen watching my characters sit at a campfire rather than playing the game. I would rather developer effort go into the game that I play rather than the login screen that I don’t pay that much attention to.

They can be swapped out.

Today I’ve designed a system that I’m comfortable with that fits into the “only 4 can be favorites” thing. Basically only 2 of my characters will be permanently in the favorites list, leaving 2 slots for swapping out.

I have separated my characters into a 4 tier system as follows:

Tier 1: Permanent favorites. For me, the 2 that I mentioned. Interestingly these 2 were unexpected, as neither were a past main.
Tier 2: Swapable favorites. These are all of my historic favorites characters that would be in the favorites list, if it accommodated more than just 4 characters. There’s like 6 of these.
Tier 3: Level up eventually characters. These are the random alts that I can’t bring myself to delete, won’t really play all that much, so I should probably get around to leveling them to max level at some point during the expansion. Not a priority for them to level. This includes my old main who’s saved the world 10 times over and just wants a relaxing retirement.
Tier 4: Consider deleting characters. These are the random alts and even previous favorite characters, that I’m just like… why did I even ever like this character??? That Druid with the weird name, etc, you know.

I keep this organized with a printed out sheet with each character in their respective tiers, that way I can reference it at any time and because the character select screen still doesn’t offer that level of organization.

Lol

And depending how things work ( several paths - more activity, increase in returns, etc.) it may work, what the heck its worth a try

I vaguely remember reading some interview somewhere that you’ll be able to win or purchase new screens that can show more characters…

I think for me, I feel like it would be cool to have one of each class on display. But that could also wind up looking a little crowded on a single screen.

(speaking of which, is the Warband screen optional?)

Barring a larger screen to fit all of the playable classes, maybe having a few different screens to swap between would work? Like “here’s a cozy-looking cabin, I’ll put these characters here”, “this one is a mysterious-looking library, I’ll put my casters here”, and “this screen is an epic-looking rampart for my melee characters”.

Just letting you separate them by general “vibes”?

Not the end of the world or anything, certainly. But it does seem like a cool feature, and hopefully we’ll see additional screens or options added over time.

Oh! And Holiday-inspired ones could be fun. Like a spooky-looking manor with purple ambience and bright orange jack o lanterns spread around?

I think if there’s a way to just randomize it, that’s what I’ll do every so often. Or I’ll just switch at times and pick at random.
