I feel like the devs kind of helped fuel a lot of rivalry between Mechagnome and Sethrak fans. Rivalry that in my opinion should never have existed in the first place.
Between there being no guarantees of new Allied Races ever being added and the diminishing probability of Sethrak ever being made playable (Sethrak already have a near-zero percent chance of ever being made into a playable race as Blizzard seems to hate reptilian races for some reason), what other outcome could there have been?
Thereâs also the issue of people pointing out that pants look like diapers on Mechagnomes to the point of it becoming a widespread internet meme that canât be unseen. I think that alone has turned people off of the race.
I personally think Mechagnomes are conceptually a cool race, but IMO they do have some major design flaws with how pants often look like diapers and just the fact in general that I think a lot of people just find the Mechagnomes somewhat queasy.
I think Mechagnomes could use with more options for the arms and legs that can help address some of the issues, like maybe new leg options that are still prosthetic but have short pants instead of the infamous âdiapersâ that people like to meme about, for instance. Mechagnomes also need access to alternate recolors for the Heritage set that match the other colors of the prosthetics.
Options to make Mechagnomes almost fully robotic would actually be pretty cool and also help make them more appealing as well because robotic body options would avoid the âfleshy capsuleâ imagery that some people have found somewhat disturbing.
Mechagnomes have a lot of possibilities for new customization options.
I still think Sethrak should be made a playable race someday, even if I donât agree with people who think Mechagnomes shouldnât have been made playable. I actually like both the Mechagnomes and the Sethrak and want both to be playable races.
Mechagnomes just get hated on for the same reason people hated on the Pickpocketing skill in Skyrim. A lot of players wanted one thing, but got something else that they didnât want instead, and then threw tantrums over it.
As far as fans killing races for me, I just donât let that happen. I know that every race in WoW has players who are chill and players who are complete jerks, and I generally just ignore the jerks.
