Hati is whatever you want Hati to be, as long as you ask nicely. Hati’s body can be atomically reforged via the Thunderspark.

Hati is referred to as a him by all the npcs in the quests, but it really doesn’t matter. If you want Hati to be female, then she’s female. It’s not like we can lift Hati’s tail and find out for sure.

According to Norse mythology, Hati and Skoll are warg brothers, the sons of Fenrir (or Fenryr in game…and yes, that’s the boss in Halls of Valor).
In terms of role-play, it would be a little difficult to say all of our BM hunters had the original Hati (or Skoll) as a companion…but fortunately for us, there is a solution that has been afforded right from the source material, in that Norse mythology states that the two brothers are actually the eldest and most famous of many children of Fenrir.
This means that our beloved companions could all still be brothers (or sisters)…and in that vein, I renamed my Hati to Torden, which is Norwegian for ‘thunder’. Since I also have Skoll as my second companion, his name is Lynnakk, which means ‘maw of lightning’.
Most importantly, in my opinion, is the fact that I don’t own either of them. They are as I have been describing them…my companions. My friends in battle.

I just thought it funny that the dwarf thought he would have a better chance with Hati.
“Stand back, Hunter who bonded with and saved azeroth alongside Hati! Lemme see if I could get through to him!”
“Umm… That’s MY companion.”
I rember hearing her and the origin legend behind skoll and hati paints the wolf as female but meh its made of energy. So could be either.
Nope! I already had to lose Hati once. I aint gonna lose him again!
