The only mistake about them, is not having full transmog, and that happened exactly because their models are so diferent from any other race, that Blizzard decided to make an elf visage form to skip the work of adapt all sets to their body.
I still love Dracthyr and i hope they get full transmog in the future.
The female NPCs run like Trolls. If that’s the case when they go live as playable, I won’t touch them. I hate the janky Troll run. It’s why I hate Zanda, too.
It’s not that simple. As far as I know, Sethrak also use the Worgen rig, but they’ve been altered so much that they probably can’t wear anything either.
These aren’t simple copy&paste races like everything they’ve done over the past few years, and now again in Midnight with the ARs.
Well, Harronir are kinda like Satyrs, coming to think of it, with all the body fur. Still, Satyrs should be added as extra body types/customization for Nelves.
I kind of think Harronir were a mistake as a race/allied race too. I don’t think they are necessarily a bad race, just that it seems out of left field to me. I have not read up on any lore or seen previews much of Midnight, so having Harronir as a playable race when they are a relatively small (population) race is a reach.
If anything, the more non-opinionated reason I see this as a mistake is Dracthyr. A model that could have hardly any customization transmog wise (aside from shoulders?) is a playable race? That immediately opened the door to many other races having potential. Naga, Murloc, and Ogres (to name a few of the models that have armor issues) all opened up when allowance was made for Dracthyr. Sure, you might not be able to transmog as much but Dracthyr overthrew the easily cited restrictions.
Sure, Lore reasons (and perhaps common sense with Murlocs) might prevent these races, but Harronir were a strange choice. I don’t even like Tuskaar and that would have been a more popular option (imo).
I won’t say nobody wanted Harronir, but I will say that they are no where close to a fan favorite compared to other long standing races/customizations we could have. Hope other people enjoy them, as they are the second race in a row now I will (likely) not touch.
Popularity is important but it is popularity among the million whatever players, not the few hundred or maybe a thousand that argue about these things in the forum. The story is also popular and managing costs is mandatory.
Blizzard collects real data online showing exactly what we are doing, what is popular and what is not popular. That is real information they can use to make decisions like this.
I hate the look of Earthen and haven’t bothered to play one. Dragon, are too skinny, they should have an option to make them really tall, beefy and muscular.
A poll with data from an infinitesimal sliver of the playerbase would not provide the data you think it would.
I highly doubt ogres are more requested in recent times than high elves or sethrak. The former is practically the Holy Grail of race requests and the latter isn’t far behind.
For how much people glaze the race of lumbering oafs who sometimes become smarter from magic exposure, maybe Blizzard should make them playable to prove a point when they end up only being as popular as Mag’har at best.
Because they’re not relevant to the plot of Midnight AFAIK, are a largely villainous race, and would require more work to make playable than the devs are willing to do, because it was said upfront that adding new races is very taxing.
They add new races all the time and then people complain that they don’t prioritize making old NPC races playable.
I hate these arguments, but I have to admit, I still don’t know who the Harronir are.
But…for balance reasons, any new race is going to be an Allied race. Blizzard very much doesn’t want to add a race to one side but not another, and they don’t want to spend resources on adding two new races at one time.
And, anyway, I think if you were to do a poll, you’d find most people want Murloc as a new neutral race, well before Satyr.
