Hardcore Offical: Pros & Cons

View Azeroth like a fully functioning world. Here’s an analogy - a stretch, I know, but stay with me. If Azeroth is populated by many characters who are using outside cash to speed up, gear up, and otherwise obtain benefits that the regular player must really invest time and effort to obtain, it starts to feel to the basic, non pay-to-win individual, like they are surrounded by people with inherited wealth - new cars, fancy clothes, bling and excess. While they are forced to eek out a bare subsistence existence. It works, but it isn’t as much fun as it could be if everyone started with a level field.

Daddysinpie, Henceforth, and Charginchuck have the patience of saints. I commend you on being able to tackle these people for so long without resorting to low blows.

Hardcore=one life, and so many people that have been wanting a Hardcore wow option for years, but didn’t want to deal with your HC community for MANY reasons are going to rejoice when they hear that they won’t have to. They are just panicking and lashing out because their little social hierarchies are going to fall apart and become irrelevant when blizz makes this official. No more coming back to life if you suck up to the admins enough. Delicious.

Please Blizzard. Make it happen. We love you!

AMEN brother! The fact that “Hardcore” Raids were celebrated while characters in the group had no Soul of Iron buff is laughable! We dont need a policed hardcore community if the game simply locks or deletes dead characters!

Make it happen Blizzard!

I don’t see why that matters. As in real life, there will always be people with advantages I don’t have. I don’t really think about people who got a ton of money have have an easier life than me as any better than myself. They just got lucky, and more power to them. I’m happy for them.

Yes, in real life there are people with advantages you will never have. Azeroth is a fantasy world where we are all born naked and broke with no advantages over one another what-so-ever. Over time, with effort, we can improve ourselves and advance our powers - we gain advantage with effort. To have some player’s receive advantage through infusion of gold from the outside ruins the idea that Azeroth is a harsh world but with equal opportunity for all to excel. It erases one of the Azeroth features that made for a nice escape from the real world.

Blizzard historically agrees with me. Sadly, their effectiveness at keeping gold buying and selling out of the game has been poor. So poor that they have largely given up in retail and are only marginally effective in Classic.

Other players should not have to limit their playstyle because of a few people cheating for an advantage.

You are correct in saying pay-to-win should be reduced as much as you can in an MMO especially a game mode that feels like it focuses a little bit more on the RPG side of that MMO.

Thing is thats up to blizzard to prevent. Players should not have such restrictions as being unable to group or trade with friends when they play because a much smaller percentage of people are abusing it.

This, so much. People would prefer to have whoever’s in charge fully control their lives than to risk anything that gives freedom.

Con: the only end game you’ll see is MC/ONY i mean unless you have 40 willing to play the YOU LOSE rng of BWL

If you are playing HC, it’s not for end game.

well hate to break it to the HC people most people play this game for the end-game raids and PVP so…

Lots of people on the Bloodsail wouldn’t come over to the official server.

Wrong, the Hardcore community doesn’t want to play with Softcore on a Softcore server.

There’s lots of people who want to play the game normally as well.

if you’re talking about vael, you can actually hearthstone out when you get burning adrenaline or whatever it’s called

Most would. Simply because it eliminates a lot of the griefing that’s occurring.

I’m curious and not trying to be rude but could you elaborate?
People keep saying that there are no roleplayers or “normies” on BsB and that it is a strictly HC server so are the HC people griefing each other? I mean if BsB was dead like people said before the HC folk came to town THEN WHO WAS PHONE who else is there?

Because if you and I (hypothetically) are both trying to farm murlocs in Dustwallow Marsh and I’m a mage having an AOE fiesta and you are not able to get a tag at that moment while I’m there, that’s not really griefing, is it?

There are still a few non HC players and some of them only play there to grief HC players.

Most common griefing is a 60 horde rogue pulls a Southshore guard near a lvling HC player then vanish, the guard kills the HC player. This happens almost daily.

Also there used to be a lvl 60 horde lock who would just cast his infernal in Xroads on low lvl horde players.

Quest to kill messenger for Deadmines. Lots of players so we formed a line at the spawn point. Non HC player and friend need quest too. We asked if they would get in line but were mocked. The hunter places trap at spawn, and tags the messenger. That would have been the end of it but a couple players told them that they were rude, jerks etc. The hunter says that we were being bad so none of us should be able to complete the quest and proceeds to place traps to tag it. Eventually they leave, after making us wait an additional thirty minutes.
Meanwhile a non HC horde character is flagged in Moonbrook killing the defies traitor as it’s being escorted, right before it completes. So no one is able to do that quest and hopefully gets the player flagged when killing hostile mobs.
On a HC server, the horde player would have to start over just like those he’s messing with.
The player who was harassing the players waiting in line would be called out in the community. Regular players have nothing to lose in these instances.

This is not griefing.

I’m not sure who is saying this, I still have a handful of horde non HC characters there. I see non HC characters occasionally. I’ve not been or seen griefing from other HC players so far.

As BsB is PVE I’m wondering if it isn’t the same person playing both sides.

Not cool what happened in Westfall but I am pleasantly surprised that people are actually waiting in line. I guess that courtesy doesn’t extend to unguilded or characters not readily identifiable as HC. Regularly have people ignore the fact that I was already waiting for a spawn or quest mob when new arrivals attempt to jump ahead of me - after I offer to invite to group (I don’t usually spot their guild tag right away since I play with names/guild/titles/etc off - helps my immersion it’s still a RP server) and get screeched at BECAUSE WE ARE HC YOU IDIOT (not “idiot” but I used a more forum-friendly word in place of what I’m usually called) or some such. I ask if they would then wait until I have the mob or item since I had arrived first. Never had any of them agree to that.

Sadly for them it never works out. It’s been pretty easy to get the tag when they decide to try to race me for it. Then more gamer words in /whispers and a few times a zone-wide call out in chat.
I feel very special when that happens.

None of what I have described that has happened in my encounters with some HC players amounts to griefing.

I’m glad you agree. But that exact incident got some really spicy whispers and threats directed at me. I was definitely called a “griefer” and that tag gets tossed out pretty quickly when it’s simply frustration on the part of the person hollaring that.

So much of what I’m personally hearing complaints about could be solved by communication and situational awareness. But all that’s been said before. I’m all for players getting a death=delete server that they can self-customize further if they wish. I don’t mind playing alongside most HC folk but some of the special ones I’ve had the misfortune to run across can’t get their safe space soon enough. I am sorry but it’s just getting tiresome when I try to be respectful and get tantrums in return.

Eh just alluding to some of the propaganda in the forum about BsB being dead and no one on it but HC. Thanks for the response. I’d not heard anything about the incidents in Westfall but I suspect that most of the reports happen in guild chat or possibly zone chat.

LOL. I play on Bloodsail Buccaneers, the realm I rolled on way back when Classic was new. You carpetbaggers will be gone soon enough. Your “community” is a bunch of self-righteous jerks who try to tell me to get off “their” server if I try to sell anything in trade chat. I was trying to give away bags if any non-hc people wanted them, and I totally got trashed.

Reported, no need to call me out of name.
