Hardcore disconnects

Look i’ve never had a problem with my internet. However power outages happen, and that means you need to restart a character that you have spent 5 days playing because you got shafted. I simply cannot be bothered playing a game where the developers aren’t listening to solve these problems. How can I pay for a monthly subscription to a company that doesn’t solve this problem. The tenacity of people playing this game after a hardcore death after lvl 30 is crazy to me. I just lost a lvl 46 named “teremusthe” to a power outage. There is 0 chance that I will play this game if this is not solved, eat crap blizzard you were once loved, now hated. You do not care to solve these problems only push your own agenda. The problem that I have is that this is so easily solved in a coding aspect that im baffled. Hardcore is a great idea, execution on resolving disconnect deaths is laziness on a very large company. Within the budget and a smart business move if they were to execute. Why am i writing this they will never care to do anything about, already admitted they do not care about playerbase…

if you can’t handle the 0.01% chance of dying to a power outage, there are 2 other ways to enjoy WoW classic: era and seasonal (SoD). hope this helps :expressionless:

The only thing the devs need to do is eliminate the Petri flask. Death should always be around the corner in HC and there should be no safety nets, players dying is what keeps the server alive and fresh, as soon as you start putting things in place that prevent any deaths, then you start breaking what truly makes HC special.

There are plenty of other servers where you can die and resurrect and where death isn’t final, perhaps one of those is closer to what you really looking for.

good thing petri isn’t a guarantee you won’t die, whew.

else we would have had a problem

Petri comes pretty close to a guarantee to prevent dying, as many of those people wearing raid gear can attest to, since few of them would have survived all their raids if they couldn’t escape the moment things didn’t look all rosy.

you’d have a point if walking into naxx or high end was a trivial matter because of petri, but plenty of people die as-is right now in a variety of raids and dungeons.

not enough :expressionless:
no respect for HC raiders. they’re all clowns.

I have lost a 59, 54 and a 48.

I persist and currently have a warrior approaching 42.

There are other game modes available to you. But in HC, its over once the pink pigtailed Gnome sings

Would a hug help, friend?

You mention repeatedly they could fix this issue but don’t mention what that fix would be?

So far the only fix I have seen posted that I’d be down for from other threads like this is the “auto-combat” feature upon disconnect.

Everyone else is just asking for appeals or abuseable systems that would allow people to alt + F4 to avoid a death.

Because it isn’t a problem. You just had an unfortunate event.

If you’re so afraid of losing your character, HC is actually not for you.

i hear you op, lost 2 characters to dcing, one was at Blizz end when the server crashed , one was on my end with a random dc, about 80 levels combined lost and many hours, wont play hc again.

I do agree a death is a death but one that is out of your contol power outage does suck and for those kinds there should be something the death should be from in game not something you have 0 control over in real life

Yes, let us at least Auto-attack on DC and shorten the time we remain in-game. Not short enough that ppl will just pull the plug, but short enough to give us a fair chance of surviving a figth, we would normally have won.

So… there are options to mitigate even these problems.

A backup power supply is relatively cheap these days, anywhere between 50 to 200 dollars, and can give you not only a chance to warn your group that you need to bail due to power failure but also protect your hardware. It’s a great investment Hardcore WoW or not.

As for the internet outage, most phone data plans allow you to use your phone as a wi-fi hotspot and it can be configured so you can connect with just one click away. If your computer doesn’t have wi-fi, you can buy a 20 dollar adapter to enable that functionality.

No. Things are good enough the way it is. Softcore is that way. ---->

Well actually what I describe is what they promised us. Softcore is not the same as also giving players far from the big cities a fair chance. It’s bad enough to have low FPS and high pings, to also regularly die bc of semi DCs … … which strangely enough has been a bigger issue since HC went live than ever before. I have played IronMan since 2012 and have died to DCs, but not as consistently as these last few months.

Losing a character at 60 to a disconnect is fine, but “players who invest that much time in their characters deserve a little bit of a safety net through petri” is justified? lol

Anyway,

It sucks to lose a character due to a Disconnect, and you can mitigate the factors that lead into it, but it’s just the nature of an online game to have the occasional hiccup. We go into this mode knowing this and we have things like bank alts and profession mains to help dull the blow.

Being an entitled whiner is pathetic. Being an adult and behaving that way is beyond pathetic. Some parents totally failed as parents.
