the fight is way to rng-e. got him down to 5-10-15-20% multiple times. but as others have stated, even if you perfected the bait of the adds and kickable bombs as i have, brann can add another very annoying layer of rng via the boss leaping away then not coming back and causing the adds to spawn all over the place especially if he is near middle.
this fight needs to be fixed. i will get it cause i am determined, but i dont want anyone else to go through this bull____ rng mess of a fight.
Thats basically what I felt after giving it a couple tries. Zekvir had a pattern. This one feels random, and you’ll get it when the stars align (and you can click the bombs when you want to)
Zekvir was hard because of numbers. This fight is hard because its a clunky RNG mess. Whenever I died during Zekvir I knew what I did wrong and what to improve. This one all you can do is hope for the rng gods for things to spawn perfectly while no pools appear in unlucky spots
I know you uhh, complained about…checks notes…needing to bind keys in an MMO, but try binding the interact key. It’ll let you instantly kick the bombs.
I think the bomb mechanic is a cool idea, but Brann freezing it can make things kind of annoying lol.
The concept of having the nemesis encounter use an interact key to deal with the mechanic is something I wouldn’t be against them using in the future going forward. I liked it, had some few gripes with it here and there but it was fun.
Yeah, tanks only need two bombs to kill the cronies with whereas DPS and Healer requires 3 bombs. Blizzard must thought their DPS was terrible I guess…?
I’m just trying to understand the logic behind this one.
It’s rough. It’s especially rough for DPS. Tanks have it significantly easier and I think a line should be drawn here: Fights should not be mechanically easier because of your spec. That’s silly. That’s silly and bad. And I don’t mean “I don’t have an interrupt” or some other class issue.
Adjust numbers so tanks can break shields and actually down the boss in under fifty hours? Sure. It taking one less bomb for adds when the big mechanic of the fight is managing the adds? It’s such a world changer it’s not even funny. Also apparently the curios are cranked up to a billion. Baffling.
I’m still formulating my thoughts on which fight I like more. Underpin has a number of flaws, but I also feel it’s more mechanically interesting than Zekky. Also it’s real strange that Phase 1 is harder than Phase 2 of Zekky’s fight. Like I shouldn’t be getting him to 60% and thinking, “Alright, well, now I just need to not stand in bad and I’m set.”
I’ll formulate my thoughts later on that, but no, the tank thing is silly.
I can see that, as a healer, I can reliably top myself off. Dealing with an encounter that can turn into a visual overload and Healer Brann sounds rough.
Fingers crossed S3 nemesis favors healers!
Joking aside I agree, certain roles shouldn’t have an easier time on a mechanic that’s universal.
Same, Underpin was more accessible since this encounter doesn’t lock me out of my spec and I don’t have to rely on DPS Brann to play ball to the important stuff, I just need to do the mechanics right. Like I said earlier, I wouldn’t be against seeing more interact encounters as long as they don’t favor roles and you know… polished. My Psychic Scream affected the bombs and caused them to move.
I did the same. Gave up on my rduid, spec’d my warrior prot and bought a sword/board from the delve vendor and beat him at ilvl 641.
Though I should say that I didn’t give this boss as many tries as I did on Zekvir. Like many other people are saying, Underpin is much more RNG. On Zek, practice would improve my performance. Sure, sometimes I’d screw up, but overall my attempts would get better. On Underpin, it’s just totally random.
I’m on frost dk at 641 and at best I get to 50% but the entire fight happens so fast I can’t keep up. Nothing you say to me will help no advice wanted I’m doing it my way.
I know I have the fight mechanics down & the damage (661), but kicking the bombs makes me want to break my keyboard. The arrows are not consistent with where your character is positioned or facing and induces immediate panic when you’re halfway through the fight.
Is it easier w/prot warrior or is it just any tank?
Yea, I’ve had moments where the bomb will pass right beside an add and other times where things just perfectly aligned and hit enemies within the vicinity even though the bomb didn’t touch them.
I’m afraid Prot War is the only tank I have, so I don’t know for sure but…
Tanks have an advantage which has been mentioned a bunch, but it’s easy to miss. Tanks kill cronies by kicking TWO bombs into them, whereas DPS/healers need 3.
Prot warrior certainly seems good at this. I did it with DPS Brann, and between him and his curios, they did most of the damage. Since there are frequent times when you’re not taking incoming damage (because it’s so easy for tanks to kill cronies), Second Wind did a lot of work here.
If kicking bombs is your main concern, I think any tank would be a big improvement over DPS.
