Hey all!
I dont like being annoying, but I could use some input for a decision im trying to make. I really want to remake my character in a different class, my initial thought was warrior, though after looking at transmog ideas I saw a Helmet that I really really like. My problem though is its only mail… even though it looks like plate, so, now im seriously considering making a Hunter.
The reason I was going to make a warrior was because I never really played one before, but I do also like Hunter class fantasy so now im just stuck in this limbo…
the character idea that I had could fit either class, so thats not really a problem, the only down side I can see potentially through a game play perspective is Hunter can only be DPS while Warrior can be Tank or DPS. I have also played Hunter but briefly not fully.
I guess my question is for anyone with experience in either of these classes is: How do they feel going through pve content/ game play wise?
I’ve mained both during various expansions. Both are fun. I’ll just give my easy summary from them.
Hunter is great because you get to have a pet tank for you while you blast away unharmed. Can be a little pain with more than one mob to keep them all aggro’d to the pet, but you’ll get the hang of it. You can also get the camouflage talent and stealth past dangerous parts unscathed. I will say though I don’t think it plays as action paced as a warrior.
Warrior is fun leveling, especially as fury. You’ll find yourself diving into packs of three mobs and mowing them down before zooming or leaping on to the next pack. Biggest issue is maybe you get a few too many and can’t regenerate health with your abilities fast enough.

I prefer hunter since it’s a ranged class, but you also have to deal with pet management.

Although as said above warrior can be fun since it’s more tanky, if you like melee classes.

I adore warrior. It excels in up front wrecking face in pvp. It feels good pvp wise, But nerfs are on the way for fury (fun can still be had though.) And there’s some situations where it feel likes there’s nothing you can do.
You really can’t go wrong with either.
But survival is incredibly fun.
Switching from crossbow to poison your enemy then throwing a bomb into someone’s face while your pet bites them and finishing them with a melee weapon feels great.
AND you can kite anyone off the face of the earth with some bandages and a can-do attitude.
Survival can be untouchable, even at lower ilevels.

Yeah tbh I’ve played both and enjoy them in their own ways.
Hello.
I can help you, since I own both and played a lot them. But your focus is Roleplaying or End-Game PvP / PvE?
Its mainly RP with some PVE an Light PVP im not too crazy going too hard into M+ raiding or the like
Well, Survival offers a great variety in transmogs and roleplaying!
You can be a dragon hunter, you can be a knight, you can even be a paladin with the right armor! Of course, all IC.
Warriors too, are great for that. They offer a great variety of choices in your Azeroth’s profession. In the end, it’s your call. Just decide what you want to be.
Also, check out the subreddit’s Transmogrification for transmog inspirations! I do my research there! I hope we can RP someday.

If your only hang up is because of a Tmog or two, then I say go with the class you prefer to “Play”!
I chose Pally cuz I never really played one before and wanted to experience it gameplay wise, and also, for RP purposes… even though I can only Transmog plate / cosmetic items, I can still equip and wear ALL armor types! Cloth, Leather, Mail & Plate! So in a RP aspect, I have tremendous options! Only downside is, I have to actually wear those items! (Dear gosh, I have soooo many cloth “dresses” in my bank, its overflowing! LOL)
Thats just my take on it though.

I ended up makin a Warrior ! For this exact reason I can choose to wear some items that arent plate for rp and I never played Warrior an want to finally experience the class! Im also using this as an opportunity to play though expansion zones I never played in before which is BC zones an im really enjoying it so far.

I know you made a warrior but wanted to add both are fun and trying both can’t hurt! I just levelled a hunter as survival and it was great.
I levelled this warrior as fury and it’s really fun if you like a fast melee class like a rogue, though.
I have two Velf’s (though appearance-wise, High Elf and High Elf ICly) that I play as one character – a warrior and hunter. She’s a sort of master of arms but not as proficient with ranged. I don’t consider her or RP her as OP, either, I guess I’m just 15+ years into this game as an altoholic and getting a bit loose with what I do :0
So yeah… I suggest making a hunter anyway when you feel like it and want to do some chainmail outfits

tl;dr have fun, def try survival hunter sometime.
Ah I understand the feels. I get stuck in the limbo of not knowing what I want to play or try next, and then I waste so much time trying to figure it out. Don’t be afraid to make an alt and try it out, level up multiple characters/races and just have a good time with it. Hell, you could alternate days on each one until you finally “click” with it. It took me a long time to let go of thinking I needed to rush to endgame, and now it’s pretty chill.
I will say that, since Hunters do have a melee subspec falling under Survival, you might still enjoy it if you don’t enjoy the ranged aspect. I get it when it comes to the matter of playstyle, lore, aesthetic, etc but both are unique and fun in their own right. Completely different from one another, imo. Both worth playing and trying out! And that’s the most fun part about leveling and all these character slots.
Seeing as you have a rogue, it might be worth looking into trying out Hunter just to see. Hunter is also a class that I haven’t touched since Vanilla days and might actually revisit now that I remember Undead can be hunters.
Anyway, sorry to rant/overshare, hope you’re having fun! My last tip would be to check out some of the wardrobe sets for each one on WoWhead to get some ideas looks wise, since you mentioned armor. Cheers!
