Fake! This video is 100% staged and has only encouraged idiots to wipe P.U.G. groups which lead to LFR being necessary. So, all of you that think LFR should be removed, you have this loser to thank for it.

What would actually happen back then, Leroy would have been kicked from his guild and been server wide blacklisted from raiding.

Obviously it’s staged. The fact that the guy is going on about statistics at the beginning is an obvious indication of that. It’s just an entertaining video. It’s like any other wow home-made movie/video. Doesn’t mean it’s not entertaining. It’s popular enough that it’s even appeared or been referenced in non-wow related media.

The majority of funny videos (wow or other wise) are staged. Do you get mad at comedians because they prepare their material instead of coming up with it on the spot?

Strongly disagree about this being entertaining. It encouraged so many raid wipes during those weekly Dalaran raid quests and nearly any raid group that had to pick up some Puggies to fill spots that I will never forgive any of these idiots.

Comedy is the most scrutinized art for out there. What some person finds funny, another will groan at and another will simply not get. All comedians styles, weather prepared or on the spot, will work depending on the crowd they’re playing for. Thankfully we live in an age where if a comedian I’m watching isn’t making me laugh, I can just watch another stream.

The truth …

I was at Blizzcon in 2007. They actually invited Leroy to speak briefly. It’s wasn’t a keynote or anything. Just a few minutes explaining the video. He admitted the video was staged. However, this exact event actually happened and it wasn’t recorded. After they wiped and calmed down, they found some humor in the situation so they decided to recreate the event and make a video.

So, the event happened. Just not like it’s shown in the video.
