Happy International Men's Day

Cairne. Imagine what could have been avoided.

As of now, I don’t really have any.

World of WarCraft has a long-standing tradition of creating strong female characters, but the strongest male character they ever created was Arthas, and they utterly destroyed him.

I would love to see a strong male character introduced into World of WarCraft - someone with stature, status, and might comparable to Alexstrasza or Sylvanas.

Malfurion is a joke. He took the Spirithood thing entirely too far with his silly owl wings and furbolg bedroom slippers. The antlers do not help either.

Illidan was cool, but his story arc was convoluted and far too basic, and when the writers were confronted with addressing him, they chose to just lock him up with Sargeras to avoid it.

Varian Wrynn was one-dimensional, bigoted, and got disenchated by Gul’dan.

Genn is pathetic. Garrosh was crazy and is now consumed by the maw. Thrall gave up his entire legacy to have Mag’har children and marry that bald lady who we never saw again. Turalyon is clearly an enemy-in-waiting. Lor’themar has potential, but Blizzard doesn’t give a crap about blood elf lore. The entire culture was nothing but a stage for Arthas, Sylvanas, and Kael’thas. Kael’thas was whiny, haughty, not strong enough, mentally ill, and is now super dead. Anduin is cool, but he’s completely androgynous and I hesitate to mention him as an example of a strong male character.

Blizzard just does not like men.

Give us one, please.

Chen Stormstout is probably the best male character in the game right now, and that’s sad because he’s barely involved. He gets this distinction by being an altruistic individual with a strong parental instinct, impressive power, an interesting personality, an intriguing backstory, and relevance to the zone where he appears - and he actually got away without being murdered or turned into enchanting mats.

Do better, Blizzard.

Men are not toxic by default. There is a lot to celebrate about masculinity. You’ll get much better results from cultivating honorable and worthy role-models than you will from ignoring and downplaying an entire gender.

And remember, transmen are men. too.

You don’t have to always make trans characters male-to-female. It can also go the other way.

I’m not sure I have a favorite as such, but I do hope Budd’s doing OK.

At least you’re consistent in trying to stir the pot everywhere you go.

Flynn Fairwind will always be my drinking buddy! Along with these two:

Yeah, don’t worry. I make sure to take their keys before hand.

Khadgar is definitely my favourite, hands down, no competition! He’s funny, kind, brave and intelligent…

I just love an intellectual man! :relieved:

You might have some competition with a blood elf for him.
