Well hey, didn’t Shadowlands add support for raytracing? That ticks a lot of your boxes for reasons why they never should have done it, but they still did. Who’s to say they can’t add better/more realistic physics for character models as well?
could be nice for roleplayers i guess.
i dont mind i never care for that stuff as long as the combat feels good i’d be down to rock a stick figure tbh.
i really only care for smoothness at the end of the day, regardless of realism.
I suspect that there was help from Nvidia to get RT shadows working in 9.0. I would not have recommended that feature be added either TBH.
someday maybe if blizzard moves off of this old engine. But at this point it’s been 20 years with it so i don’t see that ever happening.
I think there was a dev quote somewhere saying that pulling the game to a new engine would take more work than an expansion.

And has broken from that it is no longer the same it is upgraded every expansion

yeah, I seen their offices in videos and they all have upgrade tech, and I heard them say they upgrade their engine every expansion, Dragonflight is going to be bigger, larger draw distance than ever before, and just upgraded graphics.
