I’m not trying to finesse a damn thing, I don’t even have an active velf alt.
You just feel the need to advocate for the continued loss of BE visual distinction and the sharing of our visual theme to allow an AR two visual themes to the fullest on principle then. Got it.
Did you know most core races don’t have multiple visual themes. And no other race can have the exact same model across faction lines with the same options to boot and their own exclusive theme, thats just wild that you find it odd BE players want some level of visual distinction kept in place on principle.
I think they should have just pooled all the eye and hair colors available across every race and made them available to every race. It would have been a great customization benefit for everyone.
Where have we heard that before?
But blood elves have blue hair color choices.
Lemme get the tinfoil out for some hats! /s
People just want to have brown and blonde hair. And honestly, their racial still irradiates them with the void visually, soooooo… who cares?
Why stop at just brown and blonde!
Void Elves should have every hair option (color and style) that their Blood Elf brothers and sisters have access to.
There’s nothing wrong with that being added, and racial/visual distinction will still exist! We all look forward to when it inevitable occurs! c: <3
If they want distinction they can always double down on the fel theme for blood elves. It makes more sense since the blonde, blue eyes elf is obviously the style of the rangers of the alliance of lordaeron.
The alliance of Lordaeron is dead and the sin’dorei were literally most of those rangers. Who do you think Arthas was massacring in WC3?
It doesn´t matter. Alliance High Elves are where that classic style came from. The visually distinct style for blood elves was fel-infused.
Alliance high elves are a tiny offshoot. The high elves that had the blue eyed rangers in WC3 weren’t alliance at all. Only, ironically, Kael’thas’s blood elves until a certain unnamed general decided to turn the violet hold into a death camp
The alliance of Lordaeron fought the second war against orcs and trolls. Alleria is a high elf from this period, as she appeared in Beyond the Dark Portal. That’s the classic high elf look.
Lor’themar Theron, regent of Quel’thalas, fought in her expeditionary force in the first half of WC2, history-wise.
The classic high elf look had left the alliance by the beginning of WC3
Incidentally that so many self proclaimed high elf fans think the events of WC3 don’t matter is part of why I have very little respect for the whole thing.
But that’s where it came from. Even you can accept that.
It came from Quel’thalas.
Elven eyes having mana-glow wasn’t even cemented until WC3
Alleria has no void coloration in her hair compared to velves because because
-
It’s unlikely that void elves were planned before her appearance. The reveal that Turalyon was still alive came on pretty damn early in Legion. It is likely that they still hadn’t worked out the allied races. Her model was determined based on current information
-
She was trained to use the void for literal centuries and was still learning. She has way more control than the void elves ever will. It’s only been a year or 2 that void elves have been corrupted if that.
-
It doesn’t fit the theme, especially due to the fact that our void elves used to be Sin’dorei. They’d basically be more blood elf than anything without infused hair.
I’m not sure if it’s still visible, fwiw, but iirc she started out with green eyes on Argus during Legion, only to shift to the more voidy eyes later.
And here I am, wanting more voidy options. I want my velves looking like they shower in void water, wash with void soap, use void lotion, take their daily void-amins, eat void-infused fruits and veggies… You get the idea.
Yeah Ion won’t 'cause they blah blah identity or whatever.
Then why have Alleria. Couldn’t they have some leader with ugly blue hair.
I think they could easily just give different shades separate of Blood Elves.
They already gave the skin and eye colours lol.
But nooooo, hair is where we stop lolol
They need to give enough to both sides for both to have a claim. I think that’s why they brought Alleria. And that’s why they had her void form be the exception.
