[H-RP] <The Silvermoon Council> Quel’Thalas Government, Military, and Society Guild and Community

The Silvermoon Council is a Horde-aligned Blood Elf and Nightborne RP guild on Moon Guard - US.

Guild Concept

The Silvermoon Council is a guild that takes inspiration from the Convocation of Silvermoon—the ruling power of Quel’Thalas until the Scourge marched upon the Sunwell. Following the Scourge’s invasion of Quel’Thalas the Convocation was destroyed. The Silvermoon Council picks up where the Convocation left off. Along with other major political factions (i.e., the Magisters, the Blood Knights, and the Farstriders), Lor’themar rules as the Regent Lord of Quel’Thalas following the Scourge’s invasion. The Silvermoon Council answers directly to these major factions and the Regent Lord in order to help with Quel’Thelas’ restoration and advancement.

As the Council, we propose laws and regulations that may help with this goal, handle domestic issues, and take initiative with foreign affairs. In addition to being a law-making body, the Council has various other duties. Cultural preservation and advancement, education, community, and the defense of Quel’Thalas and her people are central to the Council’s mission. The Council maintains its own militia, the Sin’zaram Battalion, to swiftly react to threats both within and without Quel’Thalas.

Community

The Silvermoon Council is establishing this guild to build a Blood Elf and Nightborne community on Moon Guard. The community the Silvermoon Council hopes to establish isn’t just comprised of Lords and Ladies; instead, we hope to see everyone from Lords and Ladies to apprentice magisters, astromancers, shopkeepers, military captains, party-goers, etc. Still, we do see four primarily subcommunities within The Silvermoon Council’s greater community: Magisters, Blood Knights, Farstriders, and Nightborne elves who have made Quel’Thalas their home. We also see many Thalassian and Shalassian Role-Players having roles outside of these subcommunities.

RP Opportunities

The Silvermoon Council plans to hold a variety of RP events, including government, training, and combat RP.

The Court of the Sun

The Court of the Sun acts as the primary political body of Quel’Thalas, hearing the concerns of its citizens and allowing for the creation and upkeep of laws. The Convocation meets at the Court of the Sun to hear these concerns, address them, and maintain a strong society within Quel’Thalas. This Court operates under the auspices of Regent Lord Lor’themar Theron, Lady Liadrin, Archmage Rommath, and Halduron Brightwing.

The Court of the Sun is held twice per month, giving the officers and members of the Silvermoon Council opportunities to express their ideas. The bi-monthly meetings of the Court of the Sun is the backbone of the community the Silvermoon Council aims to create, and it is the primary way in which laws are passed in the interest of this community.

The Sin'zaram Battalion

The Sin’zaram (Blood Blade) Battalion is the Council’s personal militia. During times of conflict, strife, and crisis the Council calls on the Battalion to handle the situation. Able to swiftly mobilize, the Sin’Zaram Battalion handles foreign and domestic threats more swiftly than the larger military forces of Quel’Thalas may be able to do. Every member of the Council is automatically a member of the Sin’Zaram Battalion, and many of The Silvermoon Council’s narrative combat events are done as the Battalion. Though every member of the guild is automatically a member of the Battalion, participation is optional.

The Silvermoon Council Presents: Quel'Belore

The Silvermoon Council is working hard to create interconnected narrative arcs that break our guilds story into books. From now until the launch of Midnight, we are in Book 1: Quel’Belore, a narrative series consisting of one prelude and three chapters.

Prelude: Bathed in Shadows

Every year The Silvermoon Council tours Quel’Thalas to ascertain the needs of its people and communities, and every year the Council is gladdened by the progress the Sin’dorei have made. Rebuilt houses, the Dead Scar slowly healing, and the magic of the Sunwell flowing through the land again—what else could the Council ask for? Peace, it seems. For just as things were looking better than they ever had, strange reports started coming in from around Quel’Thalas that the Council had to investigate on its tour.

Hearing whispers of strange arcane anomalies at Falthrien Academy, the Council chose to begin its tour in its traditional spot: Sunstrider Isle. Investigating the academy proved to be no simple task. Instead of finding students studying, the Council found the area overrun with void-infused arcane wraiths and a mysterious figure portaling out of the chaos it caused.

Every stop made resulted in more of the same: evidence of the Void attempting to gather information and cause difficulties in the High Home. In the ruins of Silvermoon El’theron Brightsong led the Council to victory against rabid Wretched that matched the description of missing persons from around Quel’Thalas. The decision was made to keep the Council in a state of battlereadiness as the Sin’Zaram Battalion. At every turn, from Fairbreeze Village to Zul’Aman, the Council was met with hostility before ultimately finding the root cause of the issue: an Ethereal Shadowlord operating out of Windrunner Spire.

Making use of both the void and necromantic power, the wayward souls of Quel’Dorei were fused together into an intelligent abomination by this Shadow Lord. Blaming the Sin’dorei for leaving their souls in such a state, the abomination did not hold back—fleshcrafting itself into a five-headed Quel’Dorei. Each face unique, some feminine, some masculine but all retaining some of the beauty they had in life. At the hands of the Sin’Zaram Battalion, the creature was felled. Determined to put a stop to this, the Battalion rushed the Shadow-Lord who had made his escape to the interior of the Spire. The Battalion fought fiercely, the ethereal menace opening portals to the void and summoning various void creatures. The Battalion would not be overcome, and, through the power of his faith and the Sunwell, Knight-Lord Althron Embersworn delivered the final terrible blow.

The Shadow-Lord may be vanquished, but the Council is determined to NEVER allow this to happen again. As such, patrols are increased and a permanent military force walks the grounds of Windrunner Spire and the village below.

Chapter 1: Midnight Sun

Subchapter 1: Entropy: It seems the Void never rests. Already having dealt with one Void incursion and defeating an Ethereal Shadow-Lord in the Ghostlands, the Council received reports from a special operations team it stationed at Windrunner Spire that a strange elf has been spotted rummaging through things. Choosing to observe rather than kill, the team is keeping tabs on this elf to learn what he is up to. | The Council hears the voice of the Lord Minister over their communicators: “I am calling for an emergency assembly at Andilien Estate in the Ghostlands! It seems the Void isn’t done with Windrunner Spire or Quel’Thalas. Be ready for anything, including deadly combat!

Recruitment and Latest News:

Lord Councilor elections take place in October! Now is a great time to get involved in some political RP.

We will soon begin Chapter 1, Midnight Sun, in our guild’s narrative story: Quel’Belore. Our narrative events are action packed and full of opportunities for your characters to shine.

The Silvermoon Council is an official member of The Horde Vanguard! We’ve got great things going on with the entire Horde-MG community, and love working with our inter-guild friends.

Currently recruiting all non-hero character classes that are Sin’Dorei or Shal’Dorei.

We are not recruiting undead characters, including Death Knights and Dark Fallen, into the Silvermoon Council. There are currently no plans to change this policy.

Demon Hunter recruitment is currently open! Please be aware of the following:

  1. Demon hunter applications are currently welcome; however, these applications will undergo greater scrutiny than normal applications. There are lore reasons for this, not the least of which is that demon hunters, as a hero class, are incredibly powerful and rare.
  2. Demon hunter characters will be allowed in on a limited basis such that they never outnumber non-hero class members of the guild.
  3. The demon hunter interview process will be more stringent than the interview process for non-demon hunter characters.

After much discussion on the lore-friendlyness of Dracthyr in Silvermoon, Dracthyr recruitment is currently open! Please be aware of the following:

  1. In a similar manner to demon hunters, Dracthyr applications are currently welcome; however, these applications will undergo greater scrutiny than normal applications.
  2. Those who wish to make Quel’thalas their home must swear their loyalty to Quel’Thalas through an Instatement of Loyalty.
  3. This also applies to those that want to use the Dracthyr Visage forms to RP as Sin’dorei! This requires that your Sin’dorei dwells in the realm of Draconic Magic use, because, as shown in game, over long periods of time the magic you use leaves lingering effects on the body.
  4. Dracthyr characters will be allowed in on a limited basis such that they never outnumber Sin’Dorei or Shal’Dorei members of the guild.
  5. The Dracthyr interview process will be more stringent than the interview process for non-dracthyr characters.

I wish you all the luck in the world with this! Roleplaying a blood elf is very fun and I think being inclusive of both blood elves and nightborne is the right move but also allowing it to be so wide-spread on who can find a place there is also a great idea. I think you’re going to make a lot of people very happy.

Your wayward High Elven kin wish you the very best! Maybe we can do some role-play sometime!

What? Horde RP on MG isn’t dead? Well that can’t be true! A bunch of randoms here on these forums and on hate blogs keep insisting that it’s dead! Surely they wouldn’t lie!

Originally being from Emerald Dream, I’ve never really understood this sentiment (and don’t worry, I know you are /s). Having been active on Moon Guard for 2+ years now with my other character (Calletha), I’ve never struggled to find something to do with RP on this server as a Horde player. Sure walk-up RP can be a little hit or miss, but the guild and group rp? I haven’t found anything better than what Horde-MG offers. I’m happy to be a part of this community, and I hope my efforts with this guild can make it even better. <3

A letter arrives through the official channels as suitable to the Silvermoon mailing system.

"Salutations,

My name is Klezzek and I am reaching out as a representative of the Flashbang Exports company. I wish to request a meeting with your ruling body as soon as it is convenient to discuss the possibility of a trade agreement between your judicial body and our company. My hope is that there is some hole or niche that we can fill and forge a bond, if not of friendship, than at least of mutual business partners.

Signed,
Klezzek
Clerical Aid - Flashbang Exports."

OOC

Hello! I’m looking to build Flashbang’s relationships with other guilds in the hopes of fostering more roleplay for us (and by a more selfish extension, myself). I’ve always been interested in inter-guild dynamics and how the different goals of guilds mix and clash. I hope I’m not being too forward with an IC letter. My hope is to build a friendship predominantly in character.

I am curious. What are the Council’s views on their breatheren across the way in Alliance territory, whether in Quel’dorei, Ren’Dorei, or Darkfallen? Those who may be neutral and not aligned to one faction or another are only concerned with the interests of all Thalassians.

Don’t make deals with Goblins, it’s a trap.

I remember it, I’m just not allowed anywhere near it.

Hello! I can give you some specific answers for each of these on an IC basis. It’s important to note that we are Pro-Horde guild, and our primary concern is Horde RP.

  1. Darkfallen: If they are Forsaken and/or Horde aligned, we have no problem with them being in Quel’Thalas. OOCly, we don’t accept them into the Council because of MG-H’s ecosystem.
  2. Quel’Dorei: We take the same approach as lore: those who claim to be Quel’Dorei are remnants of remnants. OOCly, while we respect Quel’Dorei RP, it isn’t something we personally want to engage with right now.
  3. Ren’Dorei: ICly, the council finds their state of being regrettable and most of us believe they pose an existential threat to Quel’Thalas (especially after the Sunwell).

Because a lot of our IC interactions are lore driven and we try to be as lore-friendly as possible, all of these stances are subject to change based upon Blizzard’s development of the lore.

Hmm, you know, I find the current situation of Quel’Thalas interesting. Though the percentage may be small, the population of Quel’Thalas has shifted in recent years.

It’s no longer just 90% Blood Elves and 10% High Elves. The population of Quel’Thalas is shrinking as Lor’themar loses citizens to the Alliance. Many Elves have defected. First the Void Elves, then even Blood Elves, like the disenfranchised citizens of Silvermoon who are tired of swallowing Magister propaganda.

Maybe Silvermoon has only 85% of the Thalassian population now and the Alliance has 15%. Or maybe it’s even more. Elves that would be fighting for Lor’themar right now if his first and only answer to dissension to his will wasn’t to exile everyone in sight. It’s an interesting situation, don’t you think?

Great guild, by the way! Keep it up!

Brings up a great question: what will happen to the Elves that were in Dalaran that survived? I mean one would assume the Silver Covenant would just merge in with the Alliance and the Sunreavers would merge into Silvermoon again.

What’s the plan for ya’ll?

The eco-system of Moonguard Horde side? Care to explain exactly what that means? I’m a little lost here.

To Highvalor: thank you for the praise. As Elven RPers, I think we are in for an interesting time as Midnight approaches. Only Blizzard knows where we all end up after this.

To Spenser: Insofar as guild business is concerned, anybody that identifies as a Sin’Dorei or Shal’Dorei is welcome to apply to be a member of the Silvermoon Council. That includes Sunreavers.

To Cosmiclock: The Horde side of MG is a much smaller community than the Alliance side. While I would describe H-MG as vibrant and active, a lot of RP is guild/community based. By accepting Darkfallen, we would also be depriving other great guilds of potentially high-quality undead RPers. That isn’t something we want to do as members of the H-MG community. We are here to help our community thrive.
