Welp, you derped out there on what I said. Because that’s not it.
I said that Holy priests are completing +15s, and not struggling to do it. Therefore, good luck getting Blizzard to pay attention to it when all they care about is +15s. And that your focus should be on getting Blizzard to acknowledge high level competitive M+ before you say a class isn’t functioning, because the class IS functioning by the terms of completing +15s, which is the scope that developers care about.
A completely different format that has nothing to do with pushing keys to their max possible point, but entirely on clearspeed of specific set dungeons on tournament realms, with a ruleset that’s restrictive to class on its own? You know that professions aren’t allowed in MDI, and that alone causes comps to mostly be druids, right?
The MDI doesn’t even require you complete a +15 to enter, and isn’t being run on +25-30 keys.
Jeez… How many times do I have to state that i’m not saying the class is not viable nor garbage… because at this point I’m gonna assume you’re just trolling and not reading.
Asking for new ways to make holy priest interesting =/= the class is total garbage and should have a full revamp.
You know they too have to balance the game around professional play like MDI right? This happens in most games who have professional section like LoL.
This is just so wrong and unfair even for professional playing.
I work on a game that is a live service where balance is important. Esports existing does not necessarily mean that you can get every design to be valuable in said pro play. There are things that certain characters in Mobas do that will not be valuable until the character is completely reworked or overtuned out of the stratosphere, and most designers aren’t going to be on board with that if the character is doing OK in the vast majority of the game, and the very top level players are the only ones who just can’t use them.
An example of this is if you had a character like, let’s say LoL’s Lux. In a meta where midlaners with some bruiser potential is valued (this can be because any given objective around mid is important) Lux can be given extremely high ratios and damage, be winning 60% of her games in the game at large, do the top damage of any mage on a per game basis and still not get picked by the pro level players, because they don’t need a long range mage for a poke comp.
That said, the MDI is not LoL esports. It’s not nearly the same spectacle, and has far, far less money and advertising flowing into it.
It’s absolutely not for the MDI, which is what I was specifically saying. Bres classes were being taken in most comps. The only time this wasn’t the case was MDI 2020, where Monk became the choice because MDI was run at +19 and Way of the Crane exists, so their damage contribution was too significant to waste the spot on Druid.
