Hi

Hello

Sup.

We got 7/9 normal last night. Be our friend. Be a mage and join us. Please. Our last mage went healer for some reason.

(Itā€™s me I was the last mage.)

Aww, did someone see something on the forum that triggered him and he had to let everyone know about it.

Poor guy. It must be so hard seeing all these terrible people that are different than you on your precious forum.

Do you need a moist toilet wipe for your delicate tears, champ? Donā€™t worry. I will be careful not to wipe away your clown makeup.

I initially didnā€™t respond to this as I didnā€™t want to derail Communeā€™s thread, but the implied accusation has been rattling around rent-free in my brain for a bit so I thought Iā€™d briefly address it.

Essentially this is the key difference, I suspect. In response to someoneā€™s attempted gotcha moment implying that only one set of political opinions are allowed on the WoW forums, I pointed out that conservative opinions are not against the TOS so long as they are not discriminatory. I made that distinction deliberately. Australian politics is not bereft of social conservatism, but the mainstream of politics is more focused on very different economic and social concerns. I wonā€™t get into all the differences but the two major parties are not violently waging the culture war in the same way that America seems to be - though I admit I donā€™t follow internal American politics very closely (for my own sanity lol).

Anyway the reason I made the ā€œso long as they are not discriminatoryā€ comment was to suggest that certain conservative views are not inappropriate in a WoW setting. What I was thinking of was economic - as unusual as I would probably think it, creating a guild made up of like minded free-market-capitalists would not, in and of itself, be wrong. So in my head the counter to a communist leaning guild is probably a free-market-capitalist one.

For what itā€™s worth Iā€™d consider myself economically centre-left. I tend to broadly align with the Australian Labor Party. Iā€™m not fully in the socialist camp but I think sprinkles of socialism are pretty beneficial.

From what Iā€™ve gathered after a bit of a google the right vs left wing discourse in America presently seems to be more around social issues, especially relating to the trans community at present. Iā€™m not advocating for guilds to be created in an effort to gather together and discriminate against a certain group of people - that would be discriminatory, hence my comment about discrimination. While this stuff pops up in Aus, itā€™s very much a side show. For instance an Australian politician was recently kicked out of Australiaā€™s conservative party (The Liberal-National Coalition - itā€™s technically a loose union of two separate parties, wonā€™t get into that now) for attending an anti-trans protest. Seems thatā€™s the platform that American conservatives actually run on. A significant difference in approach, Iā€™d suggest. So I can see why we might perceive the issue differently.

Anyway, Iā€™ve rambled on long enough. I have no interest in joining a guild aligned with any political belief because as much as ā€œno politics in muh video gamesā€ is a tired old trope I prefer not to think too hard about politics in my limited recreation time lol. Iā€™m certainly not supporting or advocating for the establishment of a politically conservative guild, and personally it wouldnā€™t be something Iā€™d join. I was just responding to Kiperā€™s attempted gotcha and pointing out that non-discriminatory right wing politics is not banned in a WoW context. I oppose vitriol and discrimination against anyone, for their race, gender, sexuality, religion etc, and mercifully WoWā€™s TOS seem to as well.

Anyway, Iā€™ll leave it at that, because I sincerely do not want to derail Communeā€™s thread. Just wanted to address this directly, because I donā€™t really appreciate the implication that seemed to be made here, just because I said that certain non-discriminatory political positions are not bannable offences despite the strawman that some troll was trying to construct. Believe it or not I was actually fighting on Communeā€™s side in this particular battle. :woman_shrugging:

Sorry for derailing your thread Commune - all the best with your recruitment, raiding etc. I hope you guys have fun!

Just another lil bump! hope everyone is enjoying the new patch. we could definitely still use people interested in more casual, Normal mode raiding as our relaxed group has died down a little.

for our heroic group, a lot of people have taken breaks or switched to alts but we are still reclearing.

lots of us are still running m+ keys and have people playing more mid level keys, and then other people pushing into +20s and higher.
