Welcome to Commune, a Horde guild on Wyrmrest Accord (US-PST)! We are a vibrant community of gamers who set out with the goal of creating a relaxed and inclusive space for leftists to enjoy World of Warcraft together. Almost all of us are anarchists, communists, socialists, or followers of related leftist branches of political thought. Most of us are LGBTQIA+, and we strive to maintain an environment where our queerness is not only accepted but embraced.
We are PvE- and Raid-focused at this time, but we run all types of content (M+ Keystones, BGs, light RP events, etc.) and are happy to have social players!

-We raid on Friday(TBD) and Sunday (6/10 N SoD) 5:30-8:00 p.m. PST. This group especially could use more tanks, healers, and people with flex roles in general!

-We run a Sweaty Raid (10/10 N, 4/10 H SoD) twice a week, usually Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-8:00 p.m. PST. This raid group has some higher expectations in terms of performance.
A little about me: My name is Sumpin and I play a beautiful, red-haired Pandaren elemental shaman! I’ve been playing with this community since the launch of Shadowlands, and it has been transformative for my gaming experience. Oftentimes, I feel that because of my identity, I don’t really have a place in the broader gaming culture, but I really feel like I can be myself while playing with likeminded friends in this guild!

There seems to be overwhelmingly positive feedback for this guild, so I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. However, I feel justified in exposing their recruitment process.
When you join their Discord, their bot sends you a Google Form that you must fill out. The form is lengthy and asks you multiple personal questions on things like your gender identity, sexual orientation, what you think about trans rights, and your opinion on things like the police, race activist groups, and where you align politically.
As an example, I’m a cis, white, immigrant male who works in healthcare, and who at work sits, as an Ally, on diversity and inclusion panels. Naturally, I spoke about this in my application as it felt pertinent in response to their questions and the general vibe this guild gives off. Then, I exposed that my political beliefs are mostly socialist (Nordic model). I explained that the police require reforms to veer away from their current law enforcement methods and offer more community support and prevention, and that race activist movements do a lot of good but that I don’t always agree with their methods. I consider these responses to be fairly moderate.
My application was denied, and when I asked for specifics I was rudely ignored.
I don’t think my application was denied because I am not LGBTQ+, but it seems obvious to me that they are looking for very far left individuals, politically, and anything that is anywhere closer to center-right will be denied. While this is completely fine, it should be made obvious that this group is extremely far-left leaning, so that people who aren’t completely woke don’t waste their time filling out the lengthy application.

I am one of the recruiters for Commune. You are correct, we have a lengthy application that is required to be filled out and reviewed by a panel of volunteers. It is not a secret or anything we try to hide. In fact, personally, Im very proud of our application process. We strive for a safe environment for our members and everyone is subject to this before joining.
We are absolutely a leftist guild. There are many different types of leftists in the guild. The panel of volunteers that reviews applications knows the vibe that is in the discord and guild and works very hard to make sure that the answers in the application process will mix well with our current members. We purposely select people based on the answers to these questions to fit in with our current roster of friends.
I would like to highlight that I am also a straight cis white immigrant healthcare worker. You absolutely were not denied because you were any of those things.
I’m sorry that you came away from the process with a bad taste in your mouth. I wish you luck in finding a better fit for a guild and hope you are enjoying 9.1.
