Small houses are 3 million, around.
There isnāt a set single price, also, apartments are pretty cheap.
Ive played a few games with player housing and i gave the housing honest tries but it felt like an entirely different game since i wasnāt actually playing the game any more.
Never had an interest in them before so no, i dont see the appeal either
The house is locked behind mastery so looks like there is a tad of a grind to get it started but shouldnāt be too bad. Looks kind of nice and hopefully thereās multiple setups you can use.
HOMESTEADS
Do it like SWG with entire planets just barren wastelands of derelict player houses as far as the eye could see.
Can turn Kalimdor into one big empty shanty town.
I had a storefront on Nabuu in Galaxies lol.
Everyone did.
Hot take, but I honestly think - from the perspective of a roleplayer - player housing wouldnāt be that great. A big part of why I enjoy RP in this game is because Walk-Ups exist, there are still hubs in the world outside of Stormwind where people congregate.
You can see examples like FFXIV, where player housing was actively a detriment to public RP - all of it is trapped inside of houses or apartments, now. It happened in ESO, too, and Rift.
Iām iffy, is all.
One fair question is whether or not WoW has the systems & technology to implement player housing, though at least a few elements do exist.
One example I can think of, at the rudimentary level, is placing the cooking campfire. The 3D object appears as you move the ability marker around to place it. Player housing is mostly doing just that and the objects staying where you leave them indefinitely; though a āsnap to gridā option helps with keeping spacings even. Also, placing objects on walls; though they often are flagged as such.
The second factor is those objects becoming physical and interactable. You can climb on them, sit on chairs, lay in beds, etc. You can place a campfire in WoW, but it doesnāt have collision detection.
The last detail is layering objects. Putting stuff on tables, rugs on floors, etc. This Iām not sure players really have access to in any form right now, especially when coupled with the second thing.
There are some āmodular swap elementsā, but itās things like flooring or the ceiling lamp. Or the exterior building design (it doesnāt affect the internals, but thatās besides the point. Garrisons stopped here, and had very limited options.
Guild Wars is not that great of a game. Their last expansion was a complete and utter disaster that alienated the playerbase, in fact a lot of people quit over it.
Itās also very easy to win in that game, and I think people should go to that game instead of being on wow and complaining about the lack of things to do in open world.
I had so many different housing lot set up across alts in Wildstar. Some of my favorites were:
The arctic wasteland
The citadel fortress
The haunted forest
A cityscape slum apartment building
The junkyard that was a front for an underground (literally under the ground) casino.
The storage container yard that was a front for an arms trader/smuggling operation.
And the medical college that was also an emergency hospital but was actually also a front for a biological weapon and viral research facility.
I liked Wildstar housing, Iām just not a major fan of the personal instance stuff. Galaxies was great because you would see entire towns pop up on planets lol.
In the games I play that have it, itās a HUGE part of why I played, AND itās a great money maker.
Itās a sub bait.
I play the game either way so, ok?
If you donāt want to pay the usual sub (you do the same in WoW btw, just without housing), then buy an apartment. Itās smaller, sure, but you can own it without a sub. ![]()
Open world housing is great if you want neighbors. But I prefer instanced. Towards the end of its life (rip) WS added neighborhood communities where you could link your housing lots and build together
That would be a complete waste of time
As much as Iām loathe to bring it up, thereās at least one private server that Iāve heard of that has something that can be used as home building.
Old acquaintance on EU showed screenshots of what heād made to me.
So itās possible in the engine, they just havenāt done it.
