I was recently on one of my various alts. Who just so happens to be a member of a small guild of which I have been the only person to have logged into the game in the last 7 yes SEVEN years.
So I decided to traverse the obstacle course that is submitting a ticket to talk to “A Power that be” about the situation.
I was like “Hey buddy I’m in this guild that nobody but me has logged into in the last 7 yes SEVEN years. How about doing a solid and hooking a brother up with the GMship?”
To which they were like " I’m sorry do I know you?"
And I’m here like “ouch my feelers and junk”
No but seriously random blizzard employee provided me with some link where a GM can be over thrown by high ranking guild members.
But the problem is that to do that you would need to have these so called high ranking guild members. Which is kinda hard to get when you are the only member of the guild who is actively online.
Did I mention that it’s been 7 yes i said SEVEN years since anyone else has been on line?
Oh yeah! and also I don’t have invite authority. So like WTF?!
I mean seriously what are the odds that if the powers that be gave me leadership of the guild that I have been the only active member of in 7 years. That The next day the other members will just randomly log back on and be like what the heck yo, who gave away my guild that I abandoned SEVEN freaking years ago?!
And yes I know that I could technically just leave the guild and make my own new one.
But I just want all that sweet sweet light leather and and peaceblooms and stuff.

That stuff is so easy to get and cheap to buy off the AH you’ll be okay :p.
Now what I did back in WOD, I would withdraw from the guild bank and sell it on the AH, I know big brain move.

So like… They have a system in place now… Called the dethrone system, which you are familiar with according to your post, and now GMs are hands off when it comes to guild leadership with dead guilds.
That’s how the cookie crumbles. You didn’t make the guild, clearly the guild master position was protected from you taking over, and that’s about all there is to it. This is so that GMs can protect the guild they created if they want to, and if they don’t then players with the right rank can step in and take over. What are you hoping to accomplish exactly?
I’m just here wondering how many more times you can reiterate that you were the only one to log in for the last 7 yes SEVEN years.

Seems like a lot of work to steal ownership of a guild when it takes little to no effort to make one of your own. One with activity that spans less than 7 yes SEVEN years time.

dethrone used to be a pop up screen but now you have to do something silly like go into guild news or something and there is a link to the dethrone option.
you have to be rank 3 in the guild or higher which you can find out if you are by armorying your guild and character rank in guild. you don’t have to have a crown on your head to dethrone, just be rank 3 or higher. i think rank 1 is gm or whatever they decided to name that.

Give it another SEVEN years.
The account has to be inactive for 30 to 90 days for the dethrone option to pop up your better off leaving the guild and finding a new one especialy if its been this long.
I say move on. If you can’t get in touch with GM or high rank officers.
I did this with a guild like 8 years ago. Was the lowest ranked but the only one on in 2 years. The GM made me GM of the guild and now its my Families guild.

Posting in a 7 year itch thread.
How did you go about doing that? I am fighting with GM’s now to get a guild that the guild master passed away a month ago but hasn’t logged in on one toon guild master in 7 months and next in command 4 months also his toon. The rest of us are all lowest rank. The only thing I wan to do is keep the guild in remembrance of him and his legacy in game.
With this necro, it’s now been 9 yes NINE years.
