Pay the trolls no attention, they can’t help themselves, their HPD kicks in and feel the need to post about things they have no experience in other than reading some nonsense on a webpage somewhere.
I’ve blocked them and the forums are way less toxic w/o them… something I should have done a long time ago, but sadly sometimes when the trolls are quoted, snippets come through.

Anyone else notice this?
Not “some” affected guilds, but “each” affected guild. Raise your hand if your guild was affected but have received nothing.

Notice you taking a particular piece of a statement out of context and then trying to force meaning into it that is not intended?

That particular sentence doesn’t indicate that restorations are over but this one in the same blue post does. Or at least that is how I interpret it. Would a direct, “We’re done” be better? Yes but I don’t think we will ever see that.

Result = restoration mail
Again, there has been no confirmation that restoration mail has been completed, if it was in batches, or what. There are people affected that have been waiting for mail for over a month, blizz should just tell them it’s done if it’s done.

I fully agree they should have said concretely it was done. Just from the use of the word “soon”, however, I have to presume that they’ve finished by this point.

Soon has not been a historically well chosen word for blizzard, so it would have helped even more in this case. Don’t understand why they haven’t when the thread is almost 4k posts deep now.

This is what tells me they are done:
“and we do not have a way to restore the remaining missing items for them.”
I’m not disagreeing it would be nice to have a cut and dry response from Blizzard. I also feel they should give us an idea of what steps they are going to take prevent this type of situation in the future. However given the wording of the official Sept. 20th response I think we’ve heard all we will on this subject no matter how much the player base beats Blizzard up over it.
By the way my family and friends guild lost everything in this debacle. That includes all of the dropped plans/designs/recipes/etc we used to help level new characters and members and were considered the most important objects in the bank.

My guess is in the eyes of Blizzard this has become a player vent thread which is why it is so lengthy and that there are no further blue responses.

Indeed. I think they’ve said everything they’re going to on this issue. It becomes, for them, simply a matter of how many players they eventually lose when those players see the light and give up hope.
Soft-pedaling the bad news and choosing not to be definitive with closure is a tactical choice to spread the subscription loss out over time.

We just need to keep mentioning it in chat, trade etc. so they will not forget it and know that we haven’t either as well as make others aware. Blizz needs to “Make Azeroth Great Again” maybe we need red hats.

It’s really baffling that there’s 4k posts and people still holding out for more restoration mails, and blizz can’t just make a post saying “no we’re done, the end” instead of a corpo-speak “maybe there will be more restorations, maybe not, better stay subbed just in case!!!” post. It’s not like people unsubbing will make a difference after the $120AUD mount drop. Clearly the blue post wasn’t clear enough if we still have so many people unsure about what’s happening

I mean, people have screamed all they need is an apology, and this thread is one. So I sometimes think no matter how clear they are, someone will twist it around so it can be misinterpreted. I suspect they’re not coming out with a ‘we’re done’ because there may be some very rare one-offs that could happen, maybe someone just returning putting in a ticket, or something else weird. Issuing a final statement means they can’t do those without being called liars. Speaking in absolutes is not what companies like to do, simply because of how the community acts. At least this way, they have told the truth, except to those trying to twist words into things they don’t mean. It’s just not what we want to hear.

the 90 dollar mount removes their need to worry about immediate revenue. Will they use that to make the game better, or pad their “leadership” salary to more than the reported 20 million?
The bank glitch is just coincidental as hell, right?

I don’t think anyone here would be satisfied with an apology and nothing else. Maybe if the apology was made when the bug was discovered, and not a month later. If restorations are done, they can say so. The bug itself isn’t the main problem, as unfortunate as it is, their handling of the situation is the problem. There are ways to compensate people without costing blizz any money and would only generate goodwill from the community, but their entire attitude has been to wash their hands of it and hope it goes away.

I don’t think any of that matters to them. Sad, really, I have played for 19years and have enjoyed the interesting people I have met along the way. Now my three accounts will slowly becoming dormant (one in a few days, second next month, and third going into the spring). I used to like participating in all of their donation campaigns and random expansion game time offers. Now I am not even doing that! IS this really what you are aiming for Blizz??

I really hate being “left in limbo” to be honest, BIG pet peeve of mine …
- I can take/process bad news to my face…
- I can take/process a “no” to my face…
- you can even insult me to my face and I’ll take/process it (I actually respect this more than people talking “behind my back”)
- etc
…but it’s just something about being vague or “beating around the bush” without a definitive or final yes/no that really irks me in particular
As I get older my patience for this style of “beating around the bush”/being vague crap from people shrinks more and more. It just gets old, I just want people to get straight to the point - just be direct. Quite frankly I get pissed off when people are “beating around the bush” in real-life, those people definitely lose points with me
In the context of this thread, a simple non-vague “yes” (an official clarification stating they are still working on it in the background and to stay tuned) or “no” (an official clarification post stating there is nothing further being done) from an official Blue followup post is not asking for a lot - especially after 4000+ posts of silence from Blues
Being “left in limbo” creates a sort of false hope, and there is nothing worse than being disappointed by false hope
