Guild Bank Missing Items Bug -- Aug/Sept 2024

How can you trust Blizzard to release updates that, at a minimum, do not destroy the things you worked hard to collect or the existing content of the game?

They introduced this massive bug and they refuse to make players whole. It’s not about whether they have the ability to do so, it’s the willingness they lack.

You are exactly correct. That is what is so demoralizing for me. I love World of Warcraft, hence why I’ve played so long. But to have so much stolen from me by Blizzard, and not receiving any compensation other than empty words…

All this lack of communication is them protecting themselves from their own negligence and possible consequences.
Their lack of effort in restoring more (ie: what is visible in their own UI logs) is corporate greed.
The lack of of explanation in what they have done to ensure this never happens again is them either having done nothing and/or not caring about their customers.
The lack of compensation (it could even be in game items that cost them little to nothing) is them not respecting the hundreds/thousands of hours of OUR efforts that have been wiped out by their negligence.

I still feel disgusted by it all and I doubt that feeling will ever go away. I don’t think you can forget something so massive. You may not think about it every day but you cannot forget it.

The funny thing is, it WON’T protect them from consequences. Instead, it’s becoming the consequences (a huge number of long time players quitting for good).

Players who have been devastated by the guild bank deleted items (I lost 19 years worth, 7 full tabs, got nothing back) are continuing to post here, a good thing.

Blizzard leadership, the heads of Development and Customer Support, need to get together and create a heartfelt response. Really talk to us about this. Help us to understand what happened. Don’t ignore us while we are suffering over this, PLEASE!

The hate that both CS and CM are getting as the messenger is completely by design as the company scapegoats them with this non-helpful, no follow-up garbage.

This is exactly how the original 5 weeks were, an open bug with 0 follow up as to what is going on. Closed the bug a week or later with no resolution and radio silence to anyone effected for weeks. Now this drop-ship “resolution” including false details on the general tab, force close of the original threads without explanation.

Textbook company cowardice and reprehensible treatment of both their customer-facing employees and customers. So many of us were blindsided by this as we actually believed this a reputable company that cared about its products and customers. This behavior does not bode well that things are going well behind the scenes.

My guild has had a bank since it was introduced. Some of the items kept in there were very rare and could no longer be obtained in game. We went from a full bank to a nearly empty one. 16 years of gathering, of content - gone, with no true resolution. The guild leader character didn’t get anything in the mail. 95% of the bank is just - gone.

Are we to believe that Blizzard doesn’t keep backups? No - they must. Its standard practice for a company that size. What this means, then, is that they don’t think its worth the effort to restore the items. Its not worth the money, and the goodwill of the Warcraft community, since its not made of did-we-make-earnings-estimates-this-quarter-cash, is worthless.

yeah. people were not happy. stolen items gets taken away. even hacked accounts. someone steals stuff and it never returns. it is a disgrace. also guild bank and money.

i had to attach an aunticathor to protect my account from hackers. this protect it not to happen again. i was once hacked.

Continuing down this path only upholds my suspicion you are a troll and apparently a troll that has issues with reading comprehension.

Seek professional help for your HPD.

There had to be backups. The question is, what happened to them that made them worthless for restorations? Do they have a single bank that they back up things to? If that’s the case, then why? There’s reasons, good and solid legitimate reasons, why you have duplicate backups and maintain them until you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are running working data.

Where did they fail in their testing procedures - over God knows how many points - that they felt that it was okay to rewrite over that backup bank? The only thing I can think of is that someone was either extremely inattentive and wasn’t paying attention to where they were saving what we are left with, or…

… did their maintenance procedure that they changed purge the wrong backups?

Spoilers I would have apologized if you hadn’t kept the farce going as well as not maintained your attitude once the problem was identified.

Still haven’t received my two guild vaults, 7 tabs each, items in the mail. Anyone heard anything about an estimate for completing this repair?

Oh, and since I’ve been dealing with this from the start, and basically had to pick a fight to get something official posted for updates, I would kindly ask those of you here to argue, drop down to any topic and have at thee. It would be greatly appreciated.

I didn’t ask for an apology, and I’d never accept it. I did say it is what you should have done but since I don’t know you or don’t want to know you, I don’t care if you do, or you don’t.

You apologizing would make ZERO difference at this point.

I’ve been on both ends of this same thing previously, but this magical thing happens.
Within the first message or 2, one of us goes “hey I think you have the wrong person”, and it gets resolved.
