I actually have my girl Adahlis with a younger sister named Neemia that learned Arcane magic in secret while it was illegal. Adahlis would manage to sneak a few old tomes to her sister at night and help take notes with her and return them before anyone noticed. Eldre’Thelas is where she moved her sister before it became Dire Maul and some Night Elves became suspicious of Adahlis sneaking away sometimes out to that direction. But they thought she was just traveling to other little towns and coming straight back. Now her sister is really skilled as a Mage and some Night Elves are upset that she learned while it was illegal (basically got a head start on learning before it was allowed again) so her and Adahlis dont interact with Night Elves that often. Only when quests are required.
