This. They are not quest lines. They are not ingame stories you can follow. They are not found with obvious clues (although once the secrets are solved, we can usually look back and see what the throughlines were/where the telegraphing was obvious).
The secrets in WoW are the most MMO-ish part of the game left. They require literal code-breaking, ridiculously detailed observations, a little luck, a lot of trial and error, etc.
And all of that…requires group cooperation. It’s not a solo activity.
Here’s the thing, OP. I really am sorry you were disappointed.
But I would encourage you to look on the bright side. You clearly didn’t know what the secrets in the game truly are, and now you have a chance to discover them for the first time.
There are a LOT of them, and they are really great rewards (especially if you like battle pets and mounts as most of the rewards are one, the other, or both).
They are time-consuming to obtain, even after having been totally solved by other people. Going to get the old secrets is something my own husband and I have done for fun together between raid tiers.
This current secret line is massive and I mean they really stepped it up for this one. Once you’ve gotten past your initial upset over discovering this wasn’t what you thought it was…I hope you’ll enjoy how big it really is and participate in doing them.
Well the anniversary “secret” questline was. When I say we wanted to figure it out on our own that’s what I’m talking about. The clues in the quest text, using the toys to lead us to the answers. That’s what I mean.
Of course I didn’t expect to randomly come up with the idea to look in a hole in a tree in some random zone for a key. I only know about that from some reasearch I did after realizing what we’ve been doing for the last month isn’t how you get the mount.
Merriweather I appreciate your responses. I guess wanting to challenge ourselves with the anniversary quests by avoiding spoilers meant we missed the more recent information and findings. When we started the questline the consensus seemed to be the felcycle was at the end of it. That’s where I’m coming from.
I don’t remember this ever being a consensus. As I have said, the achievements specifically tell you the rewards. All you had to do was look at those in your achievement panel.
But anniversary content has an end date; WoW secrets are never limited-time only.
That should’ve been clue enough that the Felcycle wasn’t a specific reward from the anniversary stuff.
The anniversary event is a bunch of repeatable quests. No hard work! The felcycle secret quest lasts beyond that.
that took you a month? at that pace, if you start Ratt’s Revenge now, you should have the felcycle within the new few years.
Tbh, I get your frustration since it is an awesome mount. If you want it, just follow the guide on WoWhead–worth the effort imo. Or, buy 6 bottles of mountain dew and get the orange version…
Next you’ll demand the Hivemind one just because you’ve quested in Suramar. It’s a secret and you know it. Atleast this one got solved pretty quickly compared to others.
Person makes angry complaining post about ignoring guides and information. Gets mad when they’re wrong due to lack of information but that information is at their finger tips. OP tries to make themselves into some victim of misinformation. This is the age we live in.
There have been numerous secrets over the years, this is just another one of them. Even true vanilla had secrets relating to the War in the Shifting Sands, for example, did you fight a shark with lasers on its head because an insane dragon thinks it was a guppy?
I realize this is your attempt to insult me and you probably think you’re being super clever but I have no idea what that word salad means nor do I care. I mean you tried though so yay for you.
OK people so I’ve done some research and know know what I have to do. My assumption that the felcycle was a reward for the anniversary challenge questline was wrong. But that’s a risk we took when we set out to do as much of it as possible by ourselves.
Apparently getting the felcycle involves wowhead more than sleuthing. At least by me. I appreciate everyone who put in the hard work to uncover the secrets. Personally I would’ve prefered a way to sleuth it out myself, more like an actual challenge, that does not involve hacking computer codes or whatever had to be done. I prefer challenges that I earn in the game as opposed to ones that involve looking up every step on wowhead or youtube. Not that those things don’t have their place but it is what it is.
Hopefully someone stuck like me will wade through the sanctimonious toxic responses from losers who need pile ons on internet forums to feel better about their life and get some actual use out of this thread.
Check out WoWHead friend. They have a detailed walkthrough as this is part of the Secret Sleuths stuff not Guest Relations. GR simply introduced you to the Secret Sleuths. From what I understand it involves finding treasures, winning pet battles and finding hidden stuff. Far more than I’m willing to do for a mount, but WoWHead does have a great walkthrough
This is a big game with lots to do and that’s not really how I want to spend my time in game. This season is an exception but I usually focus on raiding and M+. My casual downtime in wow involves tmog and pet collecting.
Now that I think about it that goat pet is the only other time I’ve done this type of secret content. and that involved looking up wowhead every step of the way. It was fun in its own way but didn’t involve a lot of thinking and effort. Apparently the same is true for the felcycle.
Still plenty of time to do the quest and that Felcycle is pure cool. I think WoWhead has a page with instructions and coordinates for everything. There are three more orbs to be solved that may give the bike a new color (purple) and hopefully flight. Maybe. The (11.1) Undermine is only going to allow ground mounts so the Choppers will be running wild.
