Just reporting back that this is still an issue and just as stupid as ever.
The first six names I tried were taken. So now I have to sit and wait like 10 minutes before playing the game.
Blizzard, whoever thought up this policy needs to be fired. Like, how??? Why??? What has happened at this company that you’ve hired people who allow decisions like this get pushed to the live game??
Not actually a problem here on Classic Era because of our superior server structure.

Opie probably getting his rant on about Anni. I’ve announced when I released names back into the wild – twice. It’s really too bad that every imaginable riff on Legolas or Sephiroth are taken. He should just go with (random household item)qt and move on.

yeah it’s pretty great getting to choose any name you want here on classic era 
I always wondered how much, if any, gold the name seller makes on era. I see them spamming they have 200+ names for sale. Scalpers are lame.
no one is selling names on era you must be thinking of retail

I will concede that the person spamming chat to sell names is probably a take the gold and run scam. So they probably are not actually selling anything.
