Guardian feels... weak?

bears are immortal tho

your not at any level to even talk about the specs niches if you only did 3 dungeons on bear.

Seriously?

This is an open forum to talk about a video game. I’m a healer, so I spend a lot of time with tanks. I have opinions about tanks, and whilst tanking as a gag one night with my guildies who said, “Meri, come tank baby keys,” and I had to actually go and keybind Guardian abilities b/c I don’t tank, I had a thought…about bear tanks.

So I shared it very conversationally with someone else who mentioned the same thought on a druid forum…where he was–get this cuz it’ll blow your mind–responding to me specifically where I discussed healing bear tanks as a Resto Druid.

How about you join in the conversation or offer an alternative opinion or something instead of telling people what they are and are not allowed to discuss.

your opinion is based on doing 3 dungeons while not knowing bear fundamentals.

thats like mne saying “healing is easy after i healed a 0 and restro needs to have one big hard cast big healing ability cause its dots are to weak”

sorry if it came across as me forbidding people to talk, im simply stating that you dont have the experience to make such a claim about any tank

The post you’re trying to shame me for making was in response to a guy who was replying to me and to my post from earlier in thread where I discussed healing bears…because I’m a healer.

I didn’t make any “claims.” I stated an opinion about what I think would be cool in reply to a guy who specifically replied to me.

(Also, it occurs to me after looking at what you typed…you do realize we’re not talking about more self-healing? We were talking about more passive group/utility healing akin to the new symbiotic link talent)

Hasn’t been true for a long time.

Eh no, hes kinda right. Bears have a CD for everything. The amount of self healing is also ridiculous.

Theres really nothing that can/should kill you outside of mismanaging CDs.

Boss fights: white damage isnt threatening to anyone. Tank busters are spaced far enough out that you can FR back any damage and keep going with trickle healing

Trash pulls: again, 100% uptime on defensives + alternating Incarn and Lunar Beam + FR and all other passive healing.

Bears may not have a special niche as per other posters, but they’re one of the sturdiest/self sustaining (arguably more than DK) tanks out there

its been true for seasons now

I really like the class fantasy of the bear, but I feel I don’t know the nuances of it. I generally don’t like to tank as I don’t like to lead the group but I don’t know how else to get decent gear for my bear if I don’t do group content.

So is there a guide or some videos to watch in how to get good at this bear thing? I don’t mean M+ and that insanity but just regular stuff so I can maybe do a follower dungeon and go practice?

Hey, the bear is a very simple creature. All it wants is to thrash, mangle and moonfire while shining it’s iron fur as much as possible.

I would recommend going to archon.gg > mythic plus > guardian druid > talent build at the top and scroll down until you find the heat map of high level bear player talent choices.

I am not over simplifying bear when I say all you do is hit thrash and mangle to gen rage and only spend it on iron fur, or frenzy regen if you need healing. If thrash and mangle are on cd, you spam moon fire. This is the entirety of the core of bear.

Some additional nuance are your defensive cds; bark skin is usually used as you go into a pull, lunar beam is pretty much spammed once it cds (this cd is lowered every moon fire, why you spam it), incarn is your big 3 minute god mode cd, this cd is lowered as you spend rage. When you hit incarn you have massive rage gen (more iron fur which means more incarn) and unlimited frenzy regens (you are not going to die) and this lasts 30s.

There are other utility things to het into as well, but for big dumb animal bear mode its not too important.

If you follow the above steps you can be a god mode bear up until m+ 12 keys where you’ll start to need to think a bit more. M plus is really not as scary as you think it is, and i think you would do just fine with some practice.

ive played blood pally and bear this season, bear definitely feels far tankier than the other 2.

I have played all tanks. Bear is very tanky. It has good self-heal and dmg mitigation. In term of tankiness, I would rank bear the 2nd best, only losing to the broken purple. Its downsides are weak single target dps and AoE cc.

Bear tank is stronk just keep spamming the defensive CD rotation. If you stop then it feels weak. I also spec into generous self healing.
