wowhead news/guardian-druids-struggling-with-threat-issues-after-recent-nerfs-380983
It has become clear that guardian druid is too frontloaded into its apex talents. Other abilities like swipe, thrash, and especially moonfire, needs a damage buff to help with threat.
To offset this the damage of our apex talents should be reduced down from 300%. The balance should be that a build with apex talents should be around the same dps as well planned non apex talent build. This will allow players to use consistent builds for threat in some dungeons, and switch to a burst spec with the apex talents in situations where burst dps is desirable like damage amps.

i would love to see a few things adjusted for guardian:
-
just buff our damage 5% across the board. the nerfs were simply too much
-
increase the threat modfier of swipe so that it is a meaningful gathering ability
-
in the class tree, swap the rake and grievous wound nodes. the current order of those talents make no sense, especially with the massive nerfs to catweaving for bears.
-
make sundering roar also apply a dot to all mobs affects. since “echo” is the theme of our apex talents, it could “echo” our node choice in the class tree: apply a bleed for circle of the wild or a moonfire dot for circle of the heavens. those dots would be a fraction of their direct damage abilities, but threat is threat and bears are low in 360’ threat gen during pull.
-
give us thorns of iron back. it can be a super light amount of damage, but brambles is not a real replacement for that lost ability. brambles needs them to be attacking you. we need more aoe threat. I don’t know if frenzied regen generates enough healing threat if it is only in the form of a shield or if it actually has to be filling the health bar.

did i mention a 5% damage buff?

i just wanted to create my own thread and i see this here xD.
Solution is easy. buff trash, moonfire and all other spells after nerfing them to the ground.
OR fix this issue once and for all. its always the same. and we are at the start of the expansion. the dps damage will increase x2 each patch.

I dont think we need a buff in damage, damage wise we are fine, its the damage profile imo.
Sundering Roar should just be redesigned to do a burst of dam and apply max stacks of thrash.
I dont think they will ever bring back TOI. The issue with ironfur currently is that it cost too much rage for not enough benefit in most content currently. It could probably be reduced to 30 or even 20 rage to make it easier to squeeze in our rage spending.
The current spikey health is what I have an issue with. If this is the play style the want bears to play, cool, but they need to make frenzied regen off the gcd again. With low haste currently dying in the global is an event ive seen more than once.

I open with Shockwave in keys, when with my bear bros

Swapping grievous wound with rake would be quite awkward for feral.
Blizz people don’t like 3min burst classes that do zdps outside of that burst window.

Before the last nerf to guardian my damage in raid was falling right in with our monk tank. Now I am just above half his damage on single target boss fight. I have seen the posts “that your just skilled”. Possibly but I can take a monk tank into a key and do just fine with no loss of agro. I have enjoyed playing the druid since Burning Crusade and I was really hoping to main my druid this expansion. It’s going to get harder to get a pug as druid to run higher keys because no one will take you. Player skill may be an issue but another issue may be character/game design. Maybe I expect too much from a small indie software company.
They really should make bears more resilient and less reliant on heals and such. Rollercoaster bar is no fun.

Blizzard balanced bears around content where they never had to press Iron Fur, in an expansion when they made Iron Fur incredibly costly. ToI used to give damage for the press, though less than Maul/Raze/Ravage, but it was a trade off. Less damage in exchange for the armor.
Now, you get nothing for pressing Iron Fur outside of armor (and 5% mastery if you take that talent).
This means that in content like heroic raids, where bear was able to ignore Iron Fur and just spam damage……. they looked amazing. In M0s, where we never had to hit Iron Fur, and could just spam damage….. they looked amazing.
Now, when we are doing content where we actually have to hit Iron Fur quite a bit, people are speccing out of Raze/Ravage and back into EC builds where they are just spamming Iron Fur and dealing with less damage.
Maybe make Iron Fur like Demon Spikes….. a cooldown spell that gives “our armor” that has a long enough duration that you will always have it up, but it doesn’t cost you anything outside of “remember to press this button”.
Then, they can balance our damage around all of our rage going towards offense (sans the few FRs) and go from there. Either that, or they need to make our builders the main source of our damage (like prot warriors), where using less Revenges (Mauls) to use more Ignore Pains (Iron Furs) is not that big of a loss to our damage.

so should i spec into EC again if im having problems with the other build ?
squish vegan is doing the highiest level of keys rn as bear and stil ldoing more overal damage than most tanks classes as bear.
you lose single digits worth of dps when you press ironfur instead of focusing on st. squshvegan and tcers confirmed this.

The difference between all Rage going toward damage and only Apex’s Rage going toward damage, with the bulk of the Rage going toward Fur, is far from a few DPS points.
And the higher the key level, the less Rage the bear will spend on damage, meaning less and less aggro and DPS, right down to the point where almost all Rage is spent solely on Fur and Apex.
And even then, the bear’s survivability will be worse than that of the monk.

Threat is fine for bear druids, if you are having thread issues this is a skill issue. Have you considered rolling a monk? It is easier to play currently.
You keep writing nonsense, I see, actively.
Have you even played as a bear this season? )
How are those +5 keys kiddo? Enjoying your heroic raids and sub 2k arena? :^)
This doesn’t answer my question. Why did you write this instead of an answer? )
You prove my point once again that you are a clueless player.

Proved it? You have problems with logic, then.
Thats not what was said at all. Youve seriously got to stop strawmanning this odd narrative youre trying to push.
It doesnt matter that Bears have to “choose” to spend rage on defense or offense. Their damage is ramped up to compensate for that fact.
Lycza (prot pally): 100% parse in AA: pressed SoTR 538 times for 23 million damage
Squish (guardian druid): 100% parse in AA: pressed Raze 138 times for 38 million damage
The Prot Paladin pushed their “i get both offense and defense” button 4 times the amount than the druids limited “i have to choose offense or defense” choice for only 60% of the damage. AFTER the nerfs by the way. Let those numbers sink in.
Yes its a design choice
No it does not negatively affect Druids
