Guardian druid mage tower made easy

SoO heirloom with sockets would be MUCH better.

Agil gems 100%
Make sure you’re using HOTW and blasting as a moonkin. Should get him to 60-65% before first horrors reach you if done correctly.

I wouldnt recommend this. Velen is ONLY in danger if the adds cast on him and you dont stosp it. YOU should dot the adds and thrash them, so velen wont ever get hit. You also have roar for every cast. You also p much NEED balance affinity to make the damage check in p1, resto affinity is bad and you dont have the globals/time to heal. However, if it works for you and you’re progressing then best of luck!

Oh I most definitely agree! I just noticed a few times when I missed a sun fire or my moon fires and I had a hot ticking (was my first few pulls I have since adopted the dps or die strategy lol) the mobs would aggro onto me. Any info is helpful info.

And for trinkets I suppose I likewise need to get damage ones. Thought this toon use to have the KJ one but I seem to have misplaced it.

Has anyone tested Archimonde’s Hatred Reborn on this? I remember it being very useful on this fight in the past.

Legendaries from legion don’t work.

ABSOLUTELY would recommend damage trinkets.

If only I didn’t sell my mechagon trinket

Same :frowning: Cant restore it either.
You CAN refarm one, though, but its like 8k parts and 4 of the energy blue items

yeah all I have is chipped prism from WoD - basically scuffed arcano, IQD, ooze and First Guardian agi trinket

Finally did it. I wore the Night Fae full set bonus (RNG self-healing and aggro rip, can help or ruin your attempt, do not recommend) and whatever vers gear I could squeeze in with Hymnal and Defragmentation card (constant self-healing to prevent dying from tick-damage, not needed) because I didn’t have revered with Mechagon on Druid. I should’ve just worn Reflective trinket off Guardian, but Defragmentation was making it easier to survive the stupid leap/puddle in P2.

P2 is just a nightmare of RNG (especially push lasers) that you HAVE to properly use your defensive cooldowns to survive 4+ annihilates. Sometimes the adds b-line to you, other times they just run straight for Velen. The fel elementals are the same problem.

This fight was balanced around having the Artifact Weapon power, not wearing and using twink crap to compensate for loss of QoL / borrowed power. They need to remove the lasers or the stomp, or let the NPC actually do some damage. P2 should be about surviving Annihilates, not carrying the worthless NPC that was CCed all of P1 and doing 100 DPS if that.

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! Awesome job, dude!
I just wanna comment on some things in case some other people have some questions here too

Wait, I thought set bonuses were disabled??

it’s actually not RNG. Lasers spawn at front/back/sides of kruul relative to where he’s facing. Not really worth managing, imo, because im just kiting him around the outside the whole time so I’m never near a puddle and I’ll only get pushed to safety that way!

It’s all on healing aggro! you can just frenzy regen or moonfire them. Either way, they really cant kill velen UNLESS they cast, which you need to stop anyways.

Yeah, that’s not RNG, tho. i use ironfurs for the first two, and survival instinct for 3 & 4 and grab an orb RIGHT after to top myself. NEED to be topped for #4 also.

Really good job on completing it though, my guy!

Apparently they overlooked Covenant set bonuses, probably because noone wore them to test them out. Venthyr might actually be very good.

I never said using cooldowns properly was RNG. Just the adds and laser behavior is absolutely RNG. You can manipulate it all your want, but there’s no guarantee what you want to happen will happen every time. I don’t even need to use Frenzy because Defragmentation card does constant heal aggro, and I can see the mobs are yellow-threat building and still refusing to leave Velen alone despite that, with or without Frenzy.

I’ve also had Kruul randomly do his ranged shadowbolt thing on the Demon Hunter and instantly “kill” her for no reason whatsoever.

Wait, this is INCREDIBLY huge and helpful. TYVM!

I dunno, I did 17 pulls and they were all the same. Prot war took me 35 and it was the same thing on the same timings.

Things ARE dependent on how far away you are, though. You’re probably outranging some abilities so they’re fixating on NPCs.

Is the point of gearing for this suppose to be items that have gem slots? Because my 220 SL gear has no gem slots, but some 184 gear I’ve farmed has. Am I better off with the 184 gear + socketing AGI gems?

You are better off with sockets!
Sockets >>> ilvl in every case.

That doesn’t make any sense. I’m thrash-kiting Kuul and the Demon Hunter is meleeing the boss, so why would it turn around and cast a ranged nuke on it for no reason?

Also P1 RNG with when the boss decides to start their “rotation” for Drain. Its not a make or break, but the fact that it can happen gives me no faith in the devs doing a proper challenge. I’ve had less problems with Brawlers guild, and thats not even class-specific tuned.

I dunno, ive literally never ever seen him cast a ranged nuke. Not even sure what that is. I’ve seen the add tank an annihilate before, but the only oneshots ive seen are the horrors getting their cast off and “one-tapping” velen/korvas… I’ve also knocked them into the npcs… OOPS!

Nah, that’s static based on positioning too. If he has to move to you, he’ll cast it sooner. It has a few second ICD and it can be +/- one cast sooner depending on what hes doing. It’s entirely controllable!

I don’t mean to be disputatious, I’m just pointing out that what a lot of players think is RNG is ACTUALLY controlled by their actions, whether they realize it or not!

If you don’t believe me, then you can try it! Put down world markers and stand at the same spot every time and he’ll do the same thing every time. Move, and the cast sequence will likely change.

No the Drain absolutely is not static based. You can start the fight in his degen / melee range and he’ll either start casting after 3-4 stacks, or after 5, or even 6 stacks, for no reason. That can be make or break your “rotation” unless you’re using the Boomkin cheese strat where you only ever go in degen to interrupt boss when Typhoon is on cooldown.

Shouldn’t need boom-weave to beat this boss. Shouldn’t ever have to leave bear form except to heal, and even then is rarely ever necessary except because you messed up your rotation.

I’m not sure that’s true. I did the same thing every time as boomy and as war and got the same results at the same time every time. Do you have a video of this? Genuinely curious.

I think most people do this; I honestly assumed it was intended LOL
It just makes P1 SO much easier.

Have you even tried doing the fight without boom cheese? Cause it doesn’t sound like it.

Just to preface, I’m not criticizing the original post guide whatsover. Its as good as anyone can hope for without relying on full set of twink gear. This is criticism towards the content / devs.
