Because right now to complete the quest to get the retail mount people need to finish the DK starting zone on classic, so they are doing it to stop people from completing the final quest to get the mount.
So, they idea is that the game is designed for you to get a raid formed and do something about it.
But the majority of the Alliance is immeasurably passive.

Theres literally an achievement for killing faction leaders, you get a mount for killing all of them. Blizzard would tell you if your sick of horde in stormwind…kill them.

We had that “popular” one that streamed his 27 priests on my server. I’d watch out with my second account and see where he was for my guildies. Those were the days.
if you cant kill 30 horde, your server is dead.

Retailers should be fine with this. there is a quest for rogue’s order hall you “grief” the enemy’s AH.
The quest is to kill an auctioneer there.

He’s on a PvE server so it’s possible they’re violating greifing rules.
If he were on a PvP server it would be completely different.

DKs can always just go to Outland to start questing and come back to Stormwind later to finish that quest.
There’s nothing against the rules about killing Varian, he’s a pvp leader and meant to be killed and is the target of an achievement.
He’s also lvl 80(83?) so it takes a ton of people to actually kill him but only one raid can get credit at a time so sometimes there’s multiple raids or they switch people in and out through summoning.
Sorry but it isn’t a blizzard issue if Horde want to kill your faction leader, it doesn’t matter how badly you want a proto Drake mount in retail these players aren’t doing anything wrong.

Back in my day we called such shenanigans PVP. Also back in my day we had these things called server population caps that would ensure no one side had an overwhelming advantage over the other. things sure have changed since then and none of it has been for the better.

So why are people rolling alliance there? Not informed about the server population?
If it’s retail people just doing the dk intro for their mount, why not make it on horde?
