Green Flags - RP version

Maybe its experience, but like I said, you can tell when someone CARES about using proper grammar, and when they don’t. Often times in RP they’ll just correct the typo or misspelling in parenthesis with a *.

For sure. They also got very excited when the spellcheck addon started getting circulated because it helps them a lot.

biggest green flag is a TRP that’s just about the character and makes no mention or allusion to the player’s views on anything.

I meant NOT respecting it, like folks walk up and just ASK, incessantly… it’s just a terrible thing to do.

My apologizes for being so upset.

I will keep it simple:

A green flag I love seeing: people willing to accept accountability of their IC choices, it’s actually super rare.

I can get behind this.

All just my opinions/preferences, but…

The basic ones:

  1. Not pretending to be an important lore character (or related to one)
  2. Not sporting xmog that makes you look like an important lore character
  3. Easy-to-read messages/emotes/etc. (proper spelling/grammar basically)
  4. A TRP about page that isn’t a whole a** novel — I think the best characters have something short and sweet, and it makes it easier to roleplay with ya
  5. Having TRP3 Extended (this is just a personal preference since my character utilizes a lot of TRP3E items)
  6. Acting silly, funny, whimsical, or wholesome
  7. Looking at/targeting whoever you’re speaking to and turning your character to reflect what’s going on around you.
  8. Not being some semi-omnipotent or 100,000+ year old entity
  9. Not randomly lewding
  10. Not engaging in significant levels of PDA with significant others in group settings
  11. Utilizing the IC/OOC switch properly and making it obvious when saying something OOC when IC
  12. Not having political opinions, excessive sexual/personal information, etc. front and center on your profile

The advanced ones:

  1. Having something within your TRP3 tooltip that’s interesting and actionable. “Currently sitting and reading” doesn’t give me much to work with, while “Selling homemade beer and used Elf socks” would make it easy for me to walk up and generate a scenario.
  2. Not obviously and obnoxiously being a straight dude (we can tell from how you write your profiles and how you type mates) playing a female character specifically to engage in some “lesbian” romance.
  3. Using sensible mounts when mounts are required. Stick to ground mounts most of the time, and if you need to fly, don’t pull out Deathwing or Invincible.
  4. If you’re gonna stand around and hope someone walks up to you, pick a somewhat interesting or related spot to post up. Druid in bird form sitting on a lamp? Nice. Standing shoulder to shoulder among an entire catalog of shy people and just staring at Lion’s Rest? Meh.

This will probably sound strange and very niche, but I have always appreciated TRPs that describe the character as ‘ugly’ or not conventionally attractive. I’ve seen enough rippling muscles, chiseled jawlines and hourglasses to fill a Hollywood set.

I really appreciate portly fellows, frail and elderly characters or the ultra-rare unicorn that is a human priest with a friar cut.

Oh this reminded me of one of my favorite RPs; this character was being antagonistic toward people, then proceeded to get his butt whooped by 2 friends and - eventually - a few bystanders.
