But in my native language, ONE (pronounced Oh-neh) means SAND!
So obviously it points to the multitudinous of sand grains and tells me that my choices are endless!

It could probably say that your efforts have allowed you to choose one item between all 3 of the activities listed below. Only one item can be chosen per week. PVP and PVE are certainly different activities yes op its easy to see the distinction between those 2 activities and think you can choose a pvp and pve piece.
It wouldnt hurt to further clarify but what’s done is done. This isnt the first time in game information isnt adequate and undoubtedly wont be the last but maybe in the future just look it up or ask trade or guild. Probably save you some headache.
Yes thats correct. I believe the vault is allowing you to push the max ilvl of that one piece. Instead of the rng that chests had you can at least make a choice. In theory.
That is a self education issue, the information exists both from blizzard and 3rd party sources.
That is on you.
It literally says : You may only select one item from the great vault. Nothing in there could be confused as one per row.
I’ve known 100% since day 1 that the Great Vault was only going to give 1 total piece of gear per week and I’ve personally had no issues with it… but the U.I. is kind of deceiving with its 3 rows, imo.
Also, I don’t think that a proper defense for an in-game mechanic should be “oh well it was posted everywhere… forums, social media.” I don’t know if I agree that people should be required to glue their eyes to the forums and social media just to get crucial information about in-game systems. It should be properly explained in-game, IMO.
Blizzard could have just as easily had a big red pop-up when you first open your Great Vault (prior to grabbing your loot) saying “You are only able to select one item total. Selecting this item will give you the item and a mythic key. You will not be able to select any other items and must wait until next week.”
Not everyone playing the game is 100% focused all the time. Some people have kids and other responsibilities, or some people are like me and are tired as heck all the time because of insomnia.
Don’t know why people would think they’d let you pick multiple items from a weekly chest that has never given more than one item especially in an expansion where one of their primary goals was to reduce the amount of loot we get
But it’s literally in-game. Right on top of the great vault window.
You may only select one item from the great vault.
Honestly, I didn’t even see it in-game, which makes me glad that I already knew how it works. Imagine that you’re excited to get gear and you run up to the Great Vault. Your first instinct is to look around the U.I. and start reading? No, your eyes are automatically drawn to the gear that is dangled in front of you.
Also, like I said… the existence of 3 rows makes it kind of deceiving. We’re already conditioned to think “one per row” what with our talents and soulbinds.
Again, I didn’t have any issue with it, but that doesn’t mean that people who have had issues with it are stupid/lazy/invalid/etc.
Ya after picking an item tonight Id have to say its pretty clear. I couldnt recall the first week.
I too had this happen to me, the UI is a poor read and the tread shows it. There should be an arrow or something saying select here to choose this Item for the week you can only select the item in the box.
The difference here, is the way things are laid out. If you say you can have one item from 1 ‘row of 5 items’ in front of you, you’d assume you get one item from those 5 items.
Instead, you are presented with 3-4 ROWS of items, each from a different GAME TYPE. The disconnect comes from the additional rows and different game types you get rewards from.
The way it should be explained, is ‘you may only choose ONE ITEM, FROM ANY ROW/GAMETYPE.’ Period.
The way the game phrases it now, people are thinking you can get ONE reward, from ‘each’ game type row. This is what confuses people.
Exactly this, right here. The details matter just a bit.
Thats exactly it. We should, IMO, be getting one piece of gear per thing we unlock in the vault. It just feels really lame.
You have known for like a year how the vault would work.
Not everyone keeps up on these things, nor should they be expected to. A simple explanaton change, or better yet, change to how the vault works is a much better idea. It doesn’t seem all that popular with how skimpy the reward is. You do content all week across all genres of the game, only to have a choice of one type? I dont understand the reasoning behind it, aside from slowing general progression… which IMO is a pretty bad design if I’m to be honest. As I mentioned before, I rarely kick up a stir on Blizzard decisions, but starving player progression to make your game last longer (on top of other time-gating mechanics) just… egh. They need to figure out a better solution.
How does “You may only choose ONE item from the Great Vault” mean 1 per row? How can someone not understand that 1=1 and not 1=3.
This is something I would not have shared with the forums.
Because they are sectioned differently. If it was one whole big group of items shown in one box, it would be assumed you have a choice of one item in that group.
I think its a more psychological thing rather than anything else. If things arent in matching categories and you asked to choose one, you might think you can have one of each type. Its… just a hard thing to explain. But the point being–adjusting the system to be worded slightly different, and again, I say, let people have one per row because they worked for it. What is the sense of doing all that content if you only get rewarded for maybe 10% of it?
It isn’t as if all the things you do to unlock that reward on Tuesday always reward you either. Again, back to the gear-starving. Its just… way too reliant on low RNG. If you get lucky, you might get a lot, or you will get absolutely nothing.
It’s nothing psychological abutt it at all. If you don’t know that 1=1 then you obviously miss something upstairs.
They knew how stupid people are that they had to capitalise one so people understand that you only get 1 item. Apparently they underestimated peoples stupidity.
