Grapefruit is the only fruit I’ve tried that I’ve never agreed with. There are some I don’t care for but they were never bitter, usually just a texture issue.
I was about to post the grapefruit technique video but on second thought, that’s probably an insta ban.
Once you’ve seen it you’ll never be able to hear the word grapefruit without thinking of that video again.
I love it!
grapefruit meh everyone knows the avacodo is more hated its the fruit equivalent of Gnomeregan
The best way to rank fruit is to think of them in a fruit salad.
Like, you are served a bowl of fruit salad. What do you get excited by, in it? There are different tiers of fruit excitement.
Most people are excited by strawberries, raspberries.
Right below them are banana, orange slices. Always good to see those.
Then we get to grapes, which are fine and everything but at this point you’re like hm, I wish they had put in more of those other, tastier, fruits, instead.
And then you get to the filler: Cantaloupe and Honeydew. These are the worst. They’re only in there because they’re cheap (since nobody wants them) and they take up a lot of space. This is where your fruit salad supplier is trying to do things on the cheap.
So, to evaluate grapefruit, where do we see grapefruit in the fruit salad hierarchy? For me it’s DEFINITELY above the “filler” fruits. Probably above grapes, too.
Oh, that fruit salad is missing some very important ingredients:
fresh pineapple,
passion fruit
kiwifruit.
See what had happened was, a long time ago these people got lost and they were starving when they stumbled upon some grapefruit trees and they were like HOLY S#%+ ORANGES! But when they sat down to eat they were disgusted…but they were starving…so they HAD to eat. They set up camp and somehow they eventually acquired the taste…yuck. The rest is history.
Scientists have discovered that these peoples descendants also have a tendency to eat pineapple on pizza…disgusting.
Do these grapefruit enthusiasts put sugar one them?
If you’re taking Grapefruit for your heart health, also try pure grapefruit 100% juice. They should have it at Wal-Mart!
pink grapefruit with a hint of honey or sugar on top, delicious.
I like grapefruit. Put a grapefruit half in a bowl, sprinkle a little sugar on it, call it breakfast. As I got older, I cut the sugar, and just started peeling and eating them like an orange.
This though,
is not natural.

Anything becomes palatable when the recipe consists of ‘Boil in sugar water then sprinkle with sugar. For extra yum, dip in chocolate.’
I like grapefruit flavor, but I don’t eat it because of the empty carbs. I like grapefruit flavored sparkling water though. In fact, ironically enough, I just drank one along with my morning coffee!
Hmm I do like grapefruit and I’m also the person that eats all the cantaloupe and honeydew out of the fruit salads first.
Hate Grapefruits, but give me some Lemons and I will melt my teeth away
As a kid they were just too much and could not eat them. Many years later I tried one and it was not bad at all.
I’ve only had raw rhubarb one time. As a kid I bugged my grandmother one too many times about trying it. So she handed me a knife to cut a piece off the plant to try. That one time was the last time for rhubarb. So anywho rhubarb is worse than grapefruit in my book.
The same way you eat something someone else doesn’t like.
I LOVE grapefruit!
My mom always served it with brown sugar on it, but these days I just eat it plain. My husband generally won’t eat it, but when he did (only because I put it in front of him, and he hadn’t yet acquired the excuse of “I can’t eat it because of my meds”) we got dinner and a show. Every bite caused a priceless facial expression!
Empty carbs?? Copied this from Atkins " they’re low in both calories and sugar. Grapefruit: A study at the Scripps Clinic found that eating grapefruit before every meal increased weight loss as well as improving insulin resistance. … Plus, grapefruit is a good source of vitamin C and potassium."

What I’ve found is that the bad taste associated from grapefruit comes from the thick white inner peel, take most of that away, and as long as its ripe, it tastes great, like an upgraded orange. But, like oranges, the inner, bitter, white part is probably the best for you.
But, like oranges, its sweetness depends on how much sun it got growing up. I’ve had lemons that legit taste like the best lemonade in Bolivia.
