You can have faction pride without the Horde and Alliance conflict. Not our fault Blizz kept dropping the ball while pushing a conflict between their player base.
So what’s wrong with wanting to play with your friends? It’s part of what can make a game fun. I know it’s the main reason I continue to play WoW. Making your character look the way you want them to is a big part of RP. People have been doing that for a long time in video games and tabletop RPGs. I know I did it a lot when I used to play D&D. It was fun looking for just the right figure and then painting* them.
- I tried painting figures once and it wasn’t for me. I’m so glad Hero Forge wasn’t around when I played. They totally would have drained my wallet. lol
Faction pride died years ago

Faction pride died off post-vanilla when every single expansion the alliance and horde npcs worked together to defeat big baddies.

My character will regularly obey a complete stranger’s request to murder a dozen people in exchange for 8 silver and a hat I’m not even going to wear, do you think I would blink at teaming up with a dwarf to throw my grandmother off a cliff for a hat I WILL wear?
Green, red, blue, white, we’re all murderhoboes under the skin.

- Imagine thinking World of Warcraft is strictly a roleplay game. Even if it’s RP for you, you should be able to recognize the majority do not use it for RP.
- Imagine being an RPer and not realizing cross-faction opens up more RP options for people than it takes away.

For us old heads it is kind of disappointing. It’s always been orcs vs. humans.

Factions exist BECAUSE of conflict.
What if your human teammate was more “ride or die” horde than you?
I’d sooner eat my own hat than share company with a fox hunting human. gilneaus deserved to be plagued

Faction pride can’t exist when there’s objectively correct factions to pick if you want to enjoy the game.

Everything that’s wrong with the WoW Community. Hiding behind “RPG” when you’re just a “I got mine, you can get lost” attitude. Playing on the Horde no less.
