Good prebuilt PC recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good prebuilt gaming PC?

I know they’re more expensive than building your own but I just don’t have the time or patience to build my own again, so I’m looking to just buy something.

I don’t need anything crazy, I’d mostly like to just play games with high/max settings and not lag (my pc is getting old and can’t handle it anymore lol)

look up the performance you want (FPS, graphic settings, resolution) for the games you play or plan to play. Check out what hardware will give you that performance.

My personal advice when anyone is looking at pre-builts; get the best CPU pre-built you can with the least amount of RAM, GPU, and even PSU. Those three usually have high margins for the pre-builts and swamping out a GPU and RAM is easy so get them off Amazon, Newegg, etc., Most pre-builts will make you pay out the nose for a quality PSU and they are easy enough to swap out (plenty of how to videos on youtube). If you don’t want to swap out the PSU (or any other part) then get the quality performance options.

Great advice as usual! Just to add to that you should also pay attention to the CPU cooler, Motherboard and PSU used. These 3 things are the are the biggest places I have seen prebuilt companies cut corners on.

I have seen GREAT looking prebuilts but you look at the PSU and its an unknown Bronze Rated Brand that may last 2years at best. The motherboard is just as important considering its like the Central Nervous System of your Computer rig.

I normally advise people stay to away from Pre-Builts because they cut corners in a few key areas that I have mentioned above. Maybe you could buy the parts you want and consider having a friend assemble it? If not and you Really want to go Pre-Built? Please consider what both me and Lilybugg have said above.

Until recently, I have always done my own PC builds. For a long time, about 25 years. In the past year I decided to try two different pre-built machines. One Alienware, and one Lenovo Legion. Both desktop machines of course.

The Alienware is pretty to look at but there is a lot of bloatware and it didn’t take very long after receiving it to regret not just building another machine. The constant little phone-home updates it does for the build in Alienware stuff on top of how annoying Windows updates can be in breaking your previously functional setup makes me overall regret buying it compared to building something. However, for someone who is not at all tech savvy, it would be okay. Just okay. The total value of components was not terrible, and it looks pretty, and it functions perfectly fine 99% of the time.

The Lenovo Legion is just great. It came with McAfee pre-installed, so that got removed as immediately as possible, and other than that it has never pestered me with bloatware. It’s quiet even though it’s just a basic fan cooled unit and plenty powerful for the price. When I first got it I thought I screwed up badly because I didn’t see an external wi-fi antenna (so I thought I’d have to buy an add-in card) but it is built-in and connects from quite a distance too. I am very impressed with how much machine I got for the money and the fact it has no bloatware beyond the McAfee install which was easily removed.
