Good Dungeon Class for Fresh Wrath

I know a few warriors in guild are going to go prot just to level and then flip to DPS after getting gear. Might be a good option to get a healing set and grabbing tank pieces they don’t need.

It just sucks warriors are super bad at 80 or I’d roll one.

That’s why my main will be a pallie. With the utility they get, all specs are viable (ret dps is meh, but utility is still there). Same with druid really (which will be my alt).

The main thing with OG Wrath is that the classes were all MUCH better than their Vanilla and TBC counterparts, and the same will probably be true again in Wrath Classic. OG Wrath heroic dungeons were tuned down from their OG TBC counterparts, and the same will probably be true again in Wrath Classic, but probably not to the same degree. I think Blizz have already committed to tuning the heroic dungeons and phase 1 raids a bit harder than they were in OG Wrath.

Early indications, however, are that it hasn’t made a lot of difference. And this may, in large part, be because of the class design, not the dungeon/raid tuning. Wrath classes are just so much better than their TBC equivalents that it is tricky to make hard content for them.

Yeah then after you exit dungeons for raids everyone laughs at you. Better hope you find a guild that’ll let you be their lone prot warrior.

Yeah that is the definite downside of warrior. Still very fun while leveling

It’s a toss up really for you. Mage and warlock both are great for the entire expansion in certain specs, warlocks being stronger. It’s always been this way for them in like every expansion though so not shocking. I personally think warlocks are cooler this expansion with metamorphosis as mage was way more interesting in classic (outside of raids snore) before they got pruned.

Warlocks suck in dungeons for a long time. Mages are super strong but weaker at 80. Hunters are always good. Shamans are very good. Boomkins are good when they get starfall but bad before.

It really depends on level what is good or not.

The 3 top classes everyone will want in a dungeon probably are:

  1. Prot warrior
  2. Any healer (LUL)
  3. Mage

Yeah but you gotta consider the future as well for those later dungeons. For an overall investment you’re probably best off with shaman honestly. Not sure who’s stronger early game but you could always go ele then enhance later, both smack.

Shamans aren’t as needed in raids in WOTLK but they are still good.

I’d say safest bets overall are mage, warlock, rogue, druid. Any healer is also good.

Rogues are very good in dungeons due to CC and blade flurry.

Druid or paladin.

Why? Because they can tank or heal, and those are going to be the only two roles that get dungeons in anything resembling a decent amount of speed or effort since the clownshow at blizz HQ is too stubborn/stupid to put RDF in.

Every dps basically has it worse than tbc for finding groups…

That said, if you insist on DPS, caster dps is better since tanks won’t want to share dungeon loot with you, and melee dps are largely the least desirable overall. There will be some overlap for melee that can aoe with ranged dps that suck at that, however, since Wrath dungeons are largely just chug n zug aoe fests.

fresh realms will end up the exact same as the current servers with bots GDKPs and raid loggers

Mage gets insta invited to every dungeon group. In classic I leveled a mage (not this one) at launch and I got into any group I wanted.

Classic frost mage was where it was at man ah the good ol days. Shatter procs and kiting everything and everyone wants to be your friend. Good stuff good stuff.

i may play fresh for a bit but id make a mage to dungeon cleave to 55 then switch to DK

Warrior.

Probably won’t be many of them on Fresh servers.

You can spam dungeons as a tank. Prot warriors can do incredible DPS in 5 man dungeons, the best DPS of the tanks. But since you want to DPS just be prepared to wait, you won’t get to spam dungeons as much as if you were a tank.

Mage was the only class that had any real aoe in vanilla.

Warlocks got better with tbc with seed spam…

And in wrath, seed spam is still there, demo in particular is insane with meta form + immo aura as well, Boomkin is likewise extremely strong with their 1min cd aoe, shadow can mind sear, so ranged classes in general are all pretty solid at the aoe game… then all of them synergize with unholy dk as well.

None of that is saying that mages won’t still be desired, since they’re the only food/drink vendors in the game, just that their AoE isn’t irreplaceable like it was.

Yeah he asked about FRESH which is mostly vanilla for a long time. Warlock doesn’t have good AOE for a long time.

Mages have good AOE at like 22 or 23.

In FRESH you have to level from 1-80 in case you are confused.

Eventually.

But I don’t think that’s why people are drawn to them, anyway. I think it’s more about the initial excitement that comes with a fresh server, and allowing players that fell behind in TBC (in terms of gold farming) to be on par with everyone else on the server.

Yeah, FRESH is amazing for the journey regardless of the end result.
