You guys are doing it wrong. Do not hit accept or decline, just let it sit there. I just go about my business and ignore it. This way you waste the gold sellers time, a very valuable commodity and the gold spam coming my way has almost stopped. I’m probably on ‘the list’.
We’re not talking about right minds here. We’re talking about getting ahead in a video game. People will definitely spend that and more. I agree though. It’s crazy.
don’t ask me how I know… but when wow glider got banned… I guess the money making bizniz went crazy and these prices are out of this world.
You can block the chat channel invites on your interface options. Still, i don’t understand why i still get the notification when they attempt to invite me
So you can report them.
If that is the case now then it is a welcome change. Before you’d get a grey lettered message with nothing clickable. I’ll be looking out for that option now.
you cannot as far as i know.
Yes you do!!! Send a tell (/t name), and if you’re mad as hell & won’t take it anymore, tell them so! What are they going to do, report YOU??? Once you’ve sent that tell, you can right-click report & be sure you put the website into the little box!
You can also just block channel request invitations; I believe it’s under the Interface options.
Just because you’ve not been invited doesn’t mean your server has zero. If ANY server should have zero it would be BB as it has the lowest population, but we have them. I’m sure your server does as well. If your avatar’s level is accurate though, that would explain WHY you are not seeing them - they sit in the starter areas & spam low-level players.
LOL I used to do this during Vanilla when they would invite to party. If you were low-level, it would not be unusual to receive a random party invite so they took advantage of this. The fun of letting it sit there was that they could only invite 4 people and as long as there was an invite out there that wasn’t being answered, they could not send another if they already had either 4 people or 4 unanswered invites.
I’m on Whitemane and I’ve gotten like two of them so far. I don’t know if anyone else on Whitemane is getting them a lot but I seem to rarely get them.
I got my first invite from a gold seller tonight on heartseeker. I was able to right click report for spam though
send them a /w ‘hi soon to be banned gold spammer!’
then right click their name, report them and the chat channel title to blizz so they can go after them, and also ban the fool who lost control of their account for buying their services.
On old blanchy we got 5-6 first few nights, we reported and they disappeared for a week, they were back 2 nights ago, we reported and ‘poof’, gone.
p.s. just like classic, THIS is when the gold sellers make their real money, when folk are trying for their mounts. it’s 100g, and on old blanchy there are a whole lot of folk that had 100g pretty quickly, lol. Hoping Blizz tracks this and huge bans come from it, for people are buying from these guys.
I got my very first one this morning, and honestly it wasn’t terrible. It just reminded me that I needed to turn on the interface option that blocks channel invites.
“Back in my day,” Gold Spamming got so bad that you could expect to be spam-whispered every five minutes by some bot. Didn’t matter if you put them on ignore; they’d delete that character and create a new one. Then came the bots that wound run into Orgrimmar and kill themselves, spelling out the website of their marketplace with their corpses. So yeah, this random channel invite is nothing to me. I have also already seen word from the Blues that Blizzard is monitoring it and working on ways to stop it, so there’s not really much else to be said or done in the mean time.
Yeah Ive taken screenshots every time I get them, too. Been sending tickets. Hopefully they figure out a fix to this quickly. If you join the channel I think you can report it then leave.
Something something “warts and all” right?
I got one yesterday. I felt chosen. Lol
Blizz running all the gold farming sites no doubt. Bruh Sound Effect #2
Simple solution, turn off the channel invites.
I have encountered this ONCE.
Go back to retail if you dont like gold spam. It was a huge part of vanilla.
This is just how it is, or I guess I should say how it was. Remember that Blizzard really only managed to kill off gold sellers by offering it themselves. Say what you want about wow tokens, at least you don’t have gold sellers spamming you anymore.
