Gold Saucer

what content does it have? so far people have just mentioned a bunch of minigames. is there also content?

Torghast was exactly the same in shadowlands beta.

You might be thinking of early, early alpha. And Torghast in early early alpha was changed because of screaming complaining players.

Thank you for the list.

This is a good point; it’s all already there.

Except FF copied everything from WoW, so… yeah.

I haven’t been there in quite a while, but I seem to recall large parts of this being ‘arcade type’ terminals with really crappy games that no one touches, leaving:

Chocobo racing, transmog, some card game that I still don’t full understand, and a weekly lottery. Which parts do you think are big winners that wow can emulate here?

A random multiplayer event that’s hosted every 20 minutes.

Yeah that’s just fluff. The big piece is the event that’s hosted on a timer, and secondarily the card collecting you do for stuff like triple triad, raising your chocobos, a trial of style weekly event. The thing is the currency system is an extremely long term one that takes many weeks to grind out for big ticket items. Those items are used to furnish player housing, along with adding mounts and cosmetics to your collection.

Pretty nice items hosted by the vendors that make it worthwhile.

You can also play dungeons/raids normally and earn MGP that way instead. Essentially rerolls for a lotto ticket scratchcard aka wondrous tails by earning said reroll currency from playing public random runs. All for cosmetic big ticket items.

It’s essentially doing double duty being a fun zone while also filling in the role of WoW’s Trading Post via wondrous tails extending out to said zone’s currency.

I have the sabotender mount from grinding all this, if you know, you know. :dracthyr_uwahh_animated:

Yes just like this. Is that ff14?

I’d rather they finally give us that dance studio they promised.

I really love chocobo racing, but the dragon racing we have now kind of covers that.

Still it would be fun.

Would you be willing to sit through the 2 year content drought that would be required to do it right? or accept a half-baked version done in about the timeline of a patch, instead of an expansion?

I haven’t played FFXIV, but I have played FFVII so I have a rough idea what you mean. Bunch of minigames and stuff? I’d like it. There are a lot of world-quest minigames that I enjoyed that are no longer in use, and it might be kind of cool to have one place where they can all be accessed in another form. Also little weird things, like the free for all PvP brawl from WoD that I loved, or the old Brawler’s Guild stuff.

Its a big amusement park in final fantasy 7

Why doesn’t Darkmoon count? It might not have every little thing, but they could always add trial of style and a daily lotto to it. :stuck_out_tongue:

FF learned a lot about creating content from WoW. But that’s another thread, for another time.

It does count, because it’s the same thing. Argue about quality or art direction, but functionally they do the same thing, or attempt to.

Just go play Final Fantasy

World of Warcraft is not and never will be that game… thank god

In Wrath beta we had aerial dogfighting in Wintergrasp.

It wasn’t very good, though. :frowning:

For a while in FF, the thing I was doing most was playing Mah Jong. I found it more interesting than the main storyline.

So, yeah, I’ll take a Golden Saucer, but only if there’s a storyline like the first Hildibrand Manderville quest chain. It was the silliest, most anime thing I’ve done in a game for a very long time. And maybe instead of Mah Jong, we can play something like Texas Hold 'Em.

Darkmoon ain’t got the tunes

ff14 literally copied wow 1;1 but then adapted the concept aand made it into a better wow than wow is currently.
