Going make this before seeing the story

I don’t mean ignoring it. I mean finishing it.

This should never have been done in the first place.

The Alliance had enough festering unhealed wounds from Cata and Theramore. We didn’t need anymore and the Alliance playerbase shows it.

Sylvanas’ story is actually pretty straightforward for anyone who had been following it since TFT and isn’t constantly beset by moral confusion derived from faction stuff.

A lot of people just didn’t like what they saw when her story became impossible to ignore or handwave.

Except this a created story sold to people for a hobby, not real life. The Devs can (and should) resolve it.

Do you honestly think the game is better off now than it was prior to the Burning of Teldrassil?

The Burning of Teldrassil is just the capstone of a legacy that started in Vanilla where the Horde destroying Alliance cities and the Alliance doing nothing about it became an established precedent.

I still remember how I felt when I finished Warcraft 3 all I could think of was Sylvanas is going to outlive Arthas and possibly be as big a pain to everyone. Then when I learned she ended up a Horde leader all I could think of “she going to screw all of us when all is said and one”.

No, what you read is an original opinion based on my experience of the expansion, backed by 17 years of experience playing the game. I know its a shocker to you because you’re probably used to only reading criticism of WoW that is nothing more than regurgitated garbage from some WoW influencers.

But…

I can see your achievements.

You have barely even experienced the expansion.

Just come out with it, Bobby. We know it’s you.

Most of us been playing the game for 16+ yrs….and the consensus is the story sucks. Sorry bub, but you’re literally the only one here defending this dumpster fire

That has nothing to do with your issue. How do you expect a genocidal event to be “resolved”? It can’t be walked back, a full war was fought over the consequences. and both parties ground to a standstill. The Alliance did not win the kind of crushing victory that would force reparations… it did not win a victory at all. The Horde just stopped fighting the war.

Despite Drahliana’s copium infused acceptance of things being left unresolved they do ask an important question.

How do you resolve it?

My idea so far has been for Tyrande sparta kick Sylvanas down into the maw so she can drag every soul back to arbiter so they can be sent to the proper place. Heck maybe even a mass rez.

And utilize the Horde sylvanas sympathizers that were arrested in the last expansion to escape and cause problems for both player factions. The Night Elves can get their renewal by taking down those Dark Horde agents/army NPC faction.
Maybe New Horde can help out too.

That’s the best I got.
But Horde players from little feedback I have gotten don’t seem to be keen on this being resolved this way.

First off you didn’t answer the question: Do you think the game is better off now than it was at the end of Legion?

And again, this is a created story sold for a hobby. They can write an ending if they so choose.

The biggest problem is the time that has been wasted with the story trying to move in other directions. Makes me think the devs are trying to outrun the problem which will never work as Theramore has already shown.

I see a lot of “show compassion for the Sylvanas fans” responses but where was that for the Alliance fans when they designed the burning? Nowhere to be found.

I believe the little feedback from Horde posters on your ideas is because they are afraid of the Horde being treated like the Alliance is treated in these things and dished a brutal uncompromising defeat.

If you remember during BFA The Horde posters hated that their war campaign ended in defeat and the only thing that stayed at the end was Amalia Stone (who wore a Scourge Tabard after the Horde killed her then forcibly raised her in undeath). Even the destruction of the Zandalari fleet and Rastakhan’s death pales in comparison to Teldrassil. A fact that gets thrown in Saurfang’s face in the game.

While I like your ideas, I don’t believe the Horde’s psyche can handle a major blow like Theramore or Teldrassil.

Well what you’re currently doing is basically bullying because you have a problem with people who don’t criticize Shadowlands. Sorry but your opinion isn’t mine and I’m not wrong in saying Shadowlands was in fact a fun expansion for me and fun in general. I did what I wanted to do and what I had time for in Shadowlands. My main goal was to get the season 1 mythic 15 mount (did you get it by the way?) and finish the story campaigns. I did the first raid but wasn’t interested in doing more after. I’ve done solo content mostly and right now just looking forward to what the next expansion will be. So for you to say I’ve barely experienced the expansion is just an ignorant thing to say.

Most of who? Who are you trying to speak for and behalf on there? You speak for yourself. The consensus is the story sucks for those that think it sucks and those who don’t care to evaluate it for themselves and just regurgitate the criticism they heard in a youtube video. If you think the feedback here on these forums represents the opinion of the majority of WoW players then you are sorely mistaken. These forums consist of a small fraction of the amount of players in the game.

No it isn’t.

And you have a problem with people who do. You claim we’re utterly incapable of forming our own opinions and just go with unknown, unnamed “influencers”.

Stop being a bully, okay?

No.

Because I did not like the game presented to me.

So I stopped doing things I did not enjoy.

Except you have barely experienced the expansion. This is a factually correct statement.

If I watched fifteen minutes of a movie, would you take me at my word that it is great and you’re wrong for not liking it?

Of course not. That would be dumb, and you’re not dumb.

But you’re here, barely setting foot into Shadowlands, and saying “guys, trust me and my expert opinion!! Great expansion!!”

You’re coming across as a shill for the sake of shilling.

Or, y’know, you’re Steve or Ion or Bobby or someone else working for a check.

And that is okay! I hope you get a good bonus!!

No, that would be the declining server populations. Those speak for the satisfaction of the playerbase.

Yes you are in fact bullying me.

Saying you’re wrong is not bullying, friend.

You’re accusing me of being Blizzard employees and insulting me by saying my opinion cannot be genuine because it is what they would say. You are literally harassing me at this point.

You have accused us of being incapable of forming our own opinions, only able to regurgitate what others have given us.

If I’m bullying you, then you’re bullying literally everyone friend.

Maybe you should stop being a bully. That would solve a lot of problems.

But since you’re here, why don’t you give us your perspective. What have you enjoyed about Zovaal’s story?

Your entire rant is about story. Gameplay is a separate issue and the gameplay has evolved in ways that are very appropriate to the setting centered around the afterlife.

You need to decide what you’re going to rant about if it’s gameplay than that’s a topic for General Discussion. If it’s about story than you have to remember that the story of this expansion has been produced during one of the most troubled periods of the creative department but despite such this expansion is loads better than BFA which is a travesty of missed and wasted opportunities and missteps which seem to have been inspired by intraoffice malice.
