Hey all
Back in WoD I rolled a gnome mage who I played nonstop until BFA - after unlocking void elf I race changed to it.
I am feeling a bit underwhelmed playing void elf as well as the new customization options are not making it any better. I wanted to race change either back to gnome or human.
I am hoping to play M+ as well as M Raiding in SL. PvP is not really a concern of mine. I really love the new customization humans have but I feel like human mage sounds quite bland and gnomes are very cute. Please help! 
Sounds like you want a gnome, I never think about race abilities. Personally, I love the void elf, more now than ever! I just like humans and void elfs currently.
Just depends! You wanna be a smol boi or an average boi?
The biggest issue I had with being a gnome was that transmog looks compressed. I prefer a taller race.

As someone who’s race changed within the same faction over 32 times (yes, that’s not a typo) on my mage I feel as if gnome male has the best casting animation on alliance. Gnome is also great because your short stature makes it so that you always look like you’re running, which is good if the slow movespeed of mages annoys you. It always feels like you’re playing in slow motion when you go for something like Dranei or light forged Dranei. The racials gnomes have are also good for mage regardless of your spec.
However, gnome is very annoying (or cute, depending on your outlook) because sometimes you have to swim through puddles of water that other races can just walk through. There are also other very rare terrain issues where you have to jump to get over bricks or hurdles that taller races don’t struggle with, but not in anything serious, content-wise.
I think in terms of transmog, gnomes can pull off some sets really well that taller races don’t look good wearing, and vice versa. Point being you’ll eventually be able to find a transmog that works for your race.
Dwarven males also have good animations, and currently my mage is a Dark Iron Dwarf (I enjoy the racials). But with the current sale, I do feel a race change coming.
