Confirmed by Holinka on MrGM’s interview. He stated that it’s unreasonable for a tank to pick a talent and do damage like a DPS, not the direction of the game.

So when are they deleting Feral / Cat form?
Also warriors didn’t need to spec Prot to tank before Cata. So whatever direction Mr. Holinka thinks the game needs to go is just messaging his own ego.

I thought of this too and came to this forum to potentially post about it.
It’s GENIOUS! Increase damage done while a shield is equipped, Shield Block is changed to Shield Charge.
Arms doesn’t have all the defensive utility as prot still, so it might not be as OP in PvP as it use to be.
Only concerns would be if it would be most beneficial to change to weapon swap regularly during combat to use all abilities. Maybe it could also change Mortal Strike into something else?
Lets be honest, parry is miles ahead of shield wall and demo shout is a joke. so its not like you’re missing out on anything important
they need to fix defensive stance before they even consider gladiator stance

This. Seriously, just make it an adjacent capstone on the Arms talent tree and balance the damage vs. a 2-handed arms warrior, or give a slight penalty for the added defense if it’s significant. Not hard.
I seriously can’t understand why anyone with a one handed weapon and shield MUST be a tank in this game.
There are plenty of warrior themed characters, classes etc in many games that are not tanks that use shields in their arsenal. I wish blizzard would break the stigma and try something fun for once.
They need to just make it a fourth spec and be done with it.

No shields and tanks.
Just make all of Arms abilities work with a one hander equipped and it’s a done deal, it’s not hard.
That or make it switch mortal strike to shield slam when you have a one hander equipped, have it do the same damage and whatnot, just change the ability and animation from Mortal Strike to Shield Slam.
They can very easily do it, they are just being stubborn.

Funny. The philosophy has been clearly stated as class first. Warrior has been cited as an example, thats why shield abilities were given back to arms and fury. The talent trees are another development in that vein. Holinka is just talking out of his ash.
If the dev direction and the great unpruning was for arms and fury warriors to be able to equip a shield and tank normal content, then why is it out of the question for prot warriors to dps? What a clown.
