Gladiator Los Sa - Why is it bad?

I see in many post this addon being frown upon.

Why is it supposed to be bad?

With the current meta with split second decision how can you know when the mage pop combust, the rogue doing shadow dance, etc…?

It lets you just stare at your character and get away with not being perceptive, removes a nuance from the skill cap of pvp gameplay I guess.

Personally don’t care if people use it but think that’s kind of the general idea (and it’s true)

Should also note it’s literally exactly the same as weak auras, so it is amusing most of the people who complain about it also use weakauras, omnibar to an extent as well.

With that said it’s a handicap, it tricks you into playing in a reactive playstyle simply just reacting when people do things instead of thinking about what they are GOING to do constantly and predicting, which is pretty much required for improving/playing better.

I think if you’re new to pvp or just coming back its not a bad thing at all. I will say if you’re in coms then its very distracting when trying to listen to teammates. I mean if you watch someone like mes and many others they have weakaura that basically do the same thing and yell at them when important cds. Perhaps set it up to just say major cds.

Gladiatorlosa is like training wheels for pvp you will soon start to paddle faster whoever you will see that you aren’t reacting fast enough, then you will stop using gladiatorlosa and you will fall a couple of times before suddenly ur reaction time is so quick that might start using pre defensives to avoid dieing in stuns. Idk if that made sense or not but that’s my analogy on it.

If you can add training wheels to a bike race that would increase your speed and reaction in a competitive setting would you use them?

who cares

if u think abt it WA sound alerts are just advanced lossa

gotta ask why you didn’t read those posts

if you had you would see all the explanation this post could possibly get laid out in the last one and probably the one before that

Because having a voice shout out stuff is more distracting then helpful.

it isn’t bad. The amount of noise you hear depends upon how much you want to track. Most people use it in conjunction with other addons that do the same exact thing.

not really, most of the post are mostly people using it as an insult. “you must be using gladiator los sa” or “hey looks he’s using it”.

 its not a bad addon. this is just more bad advice / information from the arena forums. its no wonder most pvpers cant get to 1400. they come in here and read this terrible advice from the arena forums.

Weak auras are not lossa

My main take away has always been use Gladlossa if you feel like you need it to play no voice 2s. But OmniBar, actually watching frames for buffs, and gladius are just better for actually increasing awareness.

You need to be able to talk in 3s. Communication with your teammates is how you win games, develop strategies, discuss what went wrong or right. You don’t really want a robot voice in the background interrupting voice comms.

And if you say you don’t use voice for 3s, well then you are willingly handicapping yourself :man_shrugging:

I used to be a hater give losa users wedgies but at this point in the game addons have become so be all that it doesnt really make a difference.

Same with pve with GTFO, Dbm etc “piloting” for you

This sums it up pretty well.

if you feel aided by an addon verbally announcing cooldowns, it’s for one of the following reasons

  • you put all your attention into looking at your damage/healing buttons
  • you are not thinking of the other team’s game plan as you play, so you feel that cooldowns happen completely randomly
  • you don’t remember all the cooldowns that an enemy team has to know to watch for them

and these will stop you from getting better until you force yourself to fix them, even if you win a few matches now because hearing “combustion” makes you look up from your damage rotation to respond.

omnicc & bigdebuffs are functionally similar but keep that info on the field, and do help you quickly notice certain buff icons out of the few rows the enemy player might have.

some players use weakauras to the same effect as GLS, but the required configuration means they are actively making a handful of effects more noticeable as opposed to subscribing to an audio feed of the whole match

If ur no voicing its fine but I don’t think it’s good to use when ur trying to VC, thing yells at u nonstop… but yeah it’s basically just weak aura sound alerts anyways

Who cares what you use or don’t use.

It literally matters to nobody but yourself and has zero impact on anyone else.

Fail to see why you even ask this question?

Its actually really good in this fast paced twitch reaction one shot meta I wouldn’t use most of the spells but it is really good and people who say it isn’t are usually using some argument “oh u can’t hear your team” or “using the voice as a que to tell whats going on is noob use your awareness”. Many of these same players now use weak auras to tell them this info yet they bash glad-losa. If you wanna use it don’t feel bad its underrated and hated for dumb reasons.
