I am very sad if they are removing the splitting ice and glacial spike interraction along with ice floes to move while casting glacial spike…that payoff was what made frost mage satisfying
Please reconsider keeping this interraction for frost mage. Thanks!

Glacial spike is literally mandatory at the start of the tree. As splitting ice applies to it too… I worry. Please do ensure you read carefully before such things, it is possible it can cause confusion with what we do need to change further.

“Ice Floes is now a passive talent and moved to the Frost talent tree (was in the class tree).”
and Frostbolt gets splitting ice, which means when it empowers into Glacial spike, the glacial spike also benefits from splitting ice.

I found a contradiction in the wowhead alpha notes and the talent trees. In the notes it says glacial spike has been removed but in the talent trees it’s still there.
No the notes themself specifically say it was removed, as it was but it was baked into a talent. Which too is said, there is nothing contradictory.

I hope glacial spikes is removed,it’s a spell that takes too much time.
I think that they normalized the cast time down to that of frostbolt.
My biggest concern is icicle generation. I hope haste influences the timer.
This makes me sad. I love Glacial Spike – it is so satisfying to launch. It automatically converting from Frostbolt does not sound good to me.
Just leave Glacial Spike alone!
And Ice Lance replacing Fire Blast – terrible! How do we kill totems or eat spell reflects?
I don’t like the simplification of the game – feels like they are going for a tablet release.
They’re changing how mastery works. Icicles are a new side thing now. Not absolutely certain how it will work yet, but glacial spike will basically replace Frostbolt on the bars when you have enough icicles. Then you cast it and the button becomes Frostbolt again. This means you don’t have a dead keybind anymore like with current glacial spike where it only can be activated when you have enough icicles. There’s nothing wrong with this change. Helps keybind bloat.
Let’s assume you play Frostfire Frost and get Frostfire Empowerment proc. But a second later you get your fifth Icicle (which is now generated independently from your actions) and now Frostfire Bolt is replaced by Glacial Spike, so you cannot use instant and AoE version of FFB till you hardcast GS. That can quickly become an issue, especially in PVP where people easily can prevent you from casting it for a long time or just kick it and prevent you from using many other spells as well.
I understand that some people like less active keybinds though, so best solution is a choice node akin to current Ice Strike for Enhancement Shamans - one option is Glacial Spike auto replacing Frost(fire) Bolt when enabled and second one is Glacial Spike as a separate ability with same damage and trigger condition. Then people can pick the preferred option based on their tastes and game modes without impacting gameplay of other people.

I don’t mind giving people choices. They could easily solve the issue you brought up by making the Frostfire bolt proc take priority over glacial spike though.
