The thing is, they actually scripted the thing that would have addressed this big problem with Baine, and then they never put it into the game. Back in Cataclysm, they wrote up a scenario for the defense of the gates of Mulgore and even recorded voice lines for it. That would have rounded out Baine’s character and provided the scene of him standing up for his people (he even shouts “For Taurajo!”).
I also think that Cataclysm, or at the very latest MoP, is probably when they needed to do this with Baine. I’m not sure it would work for them to try to do it in any later expansion.
Baine isn’t hated because he strives for peace. He is hated because everytime he acts he backstabs his own faction going as far as banishing Tauren from Mulgore becauses they wanted revenge for their people being firebombed to bits. He is basically Golden’s self insert making keen everyone submit to her two other favorites Jaina and Anduin.
Actually, we do need “story parity”, but it’s the other way around.
We need story parity after the entirety of BfA/SL were Horde-centric. TWW is a step in the right direction, but more remains to be done.
It is clear that Blizzard is still attached to their old “Horde-bias” days as Gazlowe and Thrall will be the main characters of TWW after Launch content is finished.
I cannot stand Thrall and Gazlowe, I want them gone from the spotlight right now. Horde players strangely agree with this sentiment, so why am I seeing them in TWW?!
Nah, I was just joking since I can almost recognize most people who comment on the story forums… even thoughts I never check if they just using a different avatar. I only look at a profile when I see a cool avatar. lol
GD rarely but here where everyone constantly says the Moderators don’t even look I have found the most useful and cool speculation and discussions by does same players who actually care what all those wall text of quest and dialogs bring to the story. Not sure if it’s true but IMO a lot of cool ideas and inspirations can be use here for main and side quests or even books… if you look at the discussions with an open mind. (IMO)
Well that and some of the funny “unhinge” characters that players roleplay as to get their point across! Even among the faction disparity and lore dispute you learn something or are made aware of stuff you were not…
However it’s always nice to see new faces with new perspective or different views on the story… that make up for the lack of it shown in-game at least… because I been told a lot is found in books, sadly.
A true Alliance character through and through even the starting gear that the avatar has that strong faction vibe! Well done…
