High Elves and Blood Elves are, biologically, the same race (please use Thalassianelves to refer to this concept)
High Elves and Blood Elves are, politically, not the same race (this is where we make the difference between High Elves and Blood Elves)
Both are Thalassian elves, but have a strict political and ideological divide.
Yes, I know it’s stupid to use the word “race” this way. Blame Blizzard for misusing it, a much better word would have been “(sub)faction”, or are you seriously telling me that Lightforged Draenei are a different race than regular Draenei? Of course not, and same goes for Void Elves and Blood Elves - Blizz is simply misusing the term “(allied) race”. I feel this is one of the key concepts that leads to maaaaaany misunderstandings between anti and pro-HEs.
this isnt a debate. its about giving blood elves more options including their natural eye colors now that they are purified after tapping into a new sunwell
The Blue eyes were from a pure source of Arcane energy fueling the High Elves. As soon as that source was blocked (when Arthas came knocking) the Elves stopped being able to draw that Arcane source.
When the Elves discovered how to draw energy from living beings it was a small step back to what they wanted but they were shown Fel energy and the majority of the population started using it.
That presence of Fel and the use of that energy to support the magic the Elves were used to caused their eyes to turn Green, this is the state the Starting Zone is still locked in. The time hasn’t progressed since what patch 2.0.5 in the starting zone? This is why Green eyes are still a choice.
When the Well was rekindled with the heart of M’uru in 2.3 the energy never returned to pure Arcane, it’s basically ‘polluted’ by the remains of Light from M’uru (after it turned back into a Light entity when the players defeated it).
I like to think of it as the energy being put through the ‘lens’ of M’uru’s remains.
actually a majority didnt tap into fel. the evles who rebuilt sivlermoon tapped heavily into fel tho and left lingering fel magic everywhere. so anyone living there was exposed to this 24/7 causing their eyes to turn green from passively absorbing it
I understand that the Well is polluted so to speak, but back then when it was tainted with Fel, they didn’t have the story mapped out as far as they do now. So with time it’s entirely plausible that Light eyes and Blue eyes can exist. It certainly wouldn’t be a stretch, not like some things they’ve pulled.
This is the part most people don’t seem to get. Blood Elves and High Elves are the same race. Doesn’t matter how you look at it. As I mentioned, Blood Elves only renamed themselves to honor there fallen after the scourge invasion lead by Arthas. In the end though, there is nothing that makes Blood/High different races.
To my best knowledge the Well itself was never tainted with Fel. Kael destroyed it befroe the Blood Elves ever started using Fel and it wasn’t relit until just before Kil’jaden tried to come through.
If I’m wrong, correct me but I can’t recall the Well actually being corrupted by Fel.

The Sunwell was destroyed during the [Scourge invasion of Quel’Thalas], when Prince [Arthas Menethil] invaded the kingdom, slew most of its population, and used the Sunwell to resurrect [Kel’Thuzad] as a [lich]. This ritual tainted the Sunwell’s energies and threatened to kill the few elves who had survived the onslaught; in response, [Prince Kael’thas Sunstrider], last of Dath’Remar’s bloodline, rushed to the aid of his homeland and had the corrupted Sunwell destroyed.
If you want a belf with blue eyes, you just have to make a death knight. Otherwise, as you have been repeatedly told, it would be an unnecessary insult to alliance players. I assume at this point you are just trolling though.
