Gilgoblin & Mechagnomes Allied Races in 8.2?

on top of that vulpera have all of those geosets, received the special ones for tabards and cloaks, a large amount of customization options, and they have 2 jump animations. For context NPCs never jump. No NPC race would have reason for a jump animation let alone 2. (1 is a normal jump the other is a flip)

As well, there’s also the blatant contradiction with Ornyx’s post about “Adding customization to all new NPC races to offer visual variety”…because Tortollans/Quilboar/Sethrak also lack these customization features that Vulpera were frontloaded with.

Except for the time they added tabard and a player cape geoset to the Sethrak for some reason.

Vulpera aren’t just a goblin model taken and changed. Blizzard actually made the model HD, added animations and gave it HD textures normally only available to PC races. It’s too much work for a NPC race, and I doubt it will be wasted.

Also, the amount of options for their face alone is huge. They have more skin colors than most allied races, plus options for faces, ears, snouts and tatoos. Not to mention both genders are already available.

I was convinced vulpera wouldn’t be playable when the first threads asking for them came just after Blizzcon 2017. When the alpha files were made available, the vulpera model seemed to prove me right: it was bad quality, with things like textures for the face including the eyes (meaning it couldn’t blink or move them, for instance).

But then, a few months later, I had to change my position as the model was completely revamped and made playable-quality. There would be no reason to make a totally new model if vulpera were meant to just be NPCs in VOl’dun. The old model was good enough for that.

oh dear lord, why gilgoblin? no one would want to play that

We need a good aquatic themed humanoid race. Gilgoblins fit that role perfectly.

Yes they are, you dont speak for everyone. If blizzard only give allied race to popular race, each faction would have 5 elf…

No, I’m suggesting that Blizzard themselves have already iterated to us that Gilblins will be a major part of the Horde-side narrative for 8.2 – which means they won’t be “shoehorned”, we’ll experience an entire patch with them being central to the Horde’s war effort and will likely be able to unlock them in 8.2.5.

What is, or isn’t, “possible” isn’t a subject of debate. It’s technically “possible” that Blizzard will remove Blood Elves from the game and have Sylvanas become the leader of both factions simultaneously – what we’re talking about is what is likely. It’s not likely that Vulpera become playable in 8.2/8.2.5.

face palm I was using that as an example as to how any foreshadowing could be used as proof of a new allied race. Even though it’s probably just part of the story line.

It must be because you seem to be having a real hard time doing it. :stuck_out_tongue: Though feel free to prove me wrong with exact numbers of how many options Gilgoblins have in comparison to Vulpera models.

You do know Allied race doesn’t mean they have to be the same race right? There is nothing stopping them from deviating from making exact mirrors other than time and money. Both of which they have already put into the Vulpera.

Not rly, there are tons of better options than both elves and creepy goblins to join the horde

Gilgoblin its a worse version of goblins, more ugly and disgusting, who make 0 sense to be playable or join the horde.

i never saw anyone who said “i would main one”, every threat people suggest then its just for the sake of parity thinking that every race will get an allied race

Here’s the gilgoblin customization from WoW model viewer.

Oh boy. I just noticed something particularly interesting about the Vulpera and Gilblin models. So you remember how people were saying that Vulpera having more animations done? Well it is very interesting. It turns out that Gilblins actually have more animations for them than Vulpera.

Gilblins on the left. Vulpera on the right. Check wow model viewer if don’t believe me.

That’s because they had the regular Goblin animations grandfathered into their animation set. If you look in Eudora’s model (vulperafemalepirate), who still uses a modified version of the original Vulpera alpha model, you’ll also see that she has all the original Goblin animations that the original Alpha Vulpera model originally had.

It’s why the Gilgoblins no longer bare their teeth like sharks and now have their faces posed neutrally more like regular goblins.

Yeah they modified goblin animations and made new ones for the new model vulpera, there is a few missing like stealth run (reverts to old goblin animation), but regular stealth has a unique animation. I think they kepted most of them off the list for “possible rework” since goblins don’t have tails etc.

Not quite. It is very close, but not quite there. There is a few animations that the first one must have that the other one doesn’t. What the Vulpera model does have is more custom options.
